Ok, so he's on air with Mickey Plyler and Larry Williams. I have some respect for Larry Williams because he's usually like Tony Morrell and calls it like he sees it...usually. So Mickey and Larry are talking about how bad their defense is and wish they could just be "average". It went something like this....
Quakenbush...but they ARE average. They are at least that if not better.
Mickey & Larry = what game are you watching? Ball St. averaged 6.6 yards a carry, we have people lost in space and aren't tackling well. They rushed for 252 yards. Did you not see that?
Quakenbush = if you take away the 50 yard run it wouldn't be 6.6 yards a carry
Larry = but you can't do that...that's part of it
Quakenbush = but the starters were taken out
Larry = no they weren't. Venables left in starters most of the game to prove a point. He said you're staying in the game until you can prove you can stop somebody
Quakenbush = But still, I just don't see how you can say we're below average. Did you see us against Auburn?
Larry = Auburn has only scored one offensive touchdown all year. They are horrible. Our defense wasn't all that great against them and they are pretty bad.
Mickey moves the conversation to our game and asked if Quakenbush or Larry watched it. Both said no they didn't, but this is how the conversation went on us.
Mickey = I watched it yesterday on replay. Spurrier was very aggressive in the passing game and was making a statement to throw. However, Lattimore didn't look like his true self.
Quakenbush = ECU's is horrible. Their defense is horrible.
Mickey = how do you sit here and say how bad ECU's defense is, but you can't admit that about cemson?
Quakenbush = Ball State is waaaaay better than ECU. They'll crush ECU if they played them.
Folks, this is the best entertainment a guy could ask for going to work on a Monday morning. This little tool can't stand the fact we've won 3 straight in dominating fashion. He doesn't need to be doing talk sports if he's can't at least call something like he see's it. This is the same guy that said we are a 7 win football team this year. Last year I think he said 8 win if I'm not mistaken. I thought Mickey was a homer. This guy makes Mickey look like a Gamecock fan. He picked Vandy to beat us. Yes, it was closer than most expected, but his reasoning was just retarded at the time. Anyhow, if you get a chance to hear this guy it's worth it!!
Yeah, that Qualk dude is actually even more delusional than Roy Philpott if you can believe that.
I think he is a 21 yr old student if I heard correctly?
either way, he is cluelsss - its a sad station.
The only time and I repeat only time I listen to that station is after a tater loss. I hope to be listening soon.
I will typically listen a little bit and missed it this morning. I wish I would have heard the exchange. I have not watched the Clemson game and probably want but if they left the starters in and still could not stop the run, they will have some trouble with a few teams down the line.
I hate Clemson but they will score points. Just not sure their defense can stop anyone. I wish they would hurry up and lose so we want have to hear undefeated and national championship.

Quack in a bush?
he just got out of college. he works for clemson in some capacity doing communications stuff. he appears to love sports & thinks he is an authority. he has not lived long enough to know what is what
he said we would lose to vandy. i am sure he said we would lose to ecu. he is a walking talking clemson yes man brown noser..you have seen these people in offices...they just kiss ass all day drink coffee and agree with the boss. soon they are region vice presidents or else they jump off a bridge
Who is Quackenbush? Is 104.9 an Upstate radio station?
Yes...upsate. You can listen online though if you want to hear the tard. It's pretty classic entertainment actually
tailgating at Willy B = off topic
this, on topic
FWIW, Auburn had 160 more yards vs Clemson than MSU. AU also ranks last in the conference in total offense and total defense. That would horrify me if I were a tater.
The OP recounted an on-air conversation regarding the relative states of Carolina's and Clemson's defenses, which is very much on topic.
That conversation sounds like it belongs on a playground somewhere. Wow.
friday at the end of the show they had a caller, probably staged, who wanted to point out that spurrier had never recruited and started a black qb. did not give time for people to call and react. they are just orange pumpers and have to in order to keep their job. just like tnet, it is free and better than hbo, but dont expect logic in any of the callers or subject matter. if you live in the upstate, it is your only choice for sports radio other than national shows. they are obsessed with sc winning and dont know how to handle it. and just like their internet sites, if it is negative news or info about clemson they just either ignore it or pretend it is a lie. truly a comical group.
OP, maybe this doesn't occur to you, so I'm going to clue you in...
The fact that you're on this board whining about some sh*thead a Clemson themed radio show employs to throw out retarded, illogical statements that do nothing but fire people up, is the VERY REASON he has a job. That's exactly what they want out of him -- controversy and ratings.
As long as people are talking about what he has to say, they don't really give a damn what he says. They wouldn't care if he said the Earth is flat and the sun revolves around it if it got ratings. Being accurate or level headed is certainly not a prerequisite for his line of "work." If you don't want to have to hear about it, don't listen and don't discuss it.
Unfortunately, most people respond much more to controversy than reason. After all, there's a reason Ron Morris still has a job. And don't worry about calling to complain; unless he's severely violating FCC regulations, that just does nothing but confirm to his bosses that he's doing something right. It's our unfortunate reality in an age of alarming stupidity and incredibly short attention spans.

I couldn't care less about what some Clemson fanboy thinks. But I was very interested to read that both Larry Williams and Mickley Plyler think Clemson's defense is subpar. So for that, I'm grateful to the OP.
Antonio Hefner started a game I know he wasn't recruited by Spurrier but he did start a game
Newton also started and he recruited Hillary.
What you have to realize is that this radio station, like virtually any other media, is a for-profit entity. They are going to present entertainment to attract the highest number of listeners so that they can sell more and charge more for advertising.
SO, that's why this Quack guy is right on the money by NOT calling it like it is - the Clemson fan base and especially their head coach CAN NOT and WILL NOT call it like it is, because that would mean admitting that Carolina has beaten them like a rented mule for the last three years and has surpassed them entirely in every single major sport.
The fan base doesn't want to hear facts. Therefore, the people that provide their entertainment simply can not report facts, otherwise they will change the station to the Dumbo Orange Sunshine Pumper Channel where Clemson wins every game by 40 TDs and every single player they have is an All American.
I'll be yo huckleberry...
I know this William Qualkenbush guy. He went to Daniel high school and played some rec ball. He's just a goofball; no one takes him seriously. He's not worth having a thread about to be honest with you. Just imagine some Clemson fan of yours that makes horrible football arguments, (shouldn't be hard), and give him a job in radio.
