Saying a WR is 17-3 is completely different than saying the starting QB is 17-3. Here's another stat for you: We averaged 31.5 points/game this season. Last season, even with all of our defensive scoring, we averaged 30.1.
In other words, we are scoring more points that we have at any point under Spurrier. Shaw is a huge part of that.
I think it is going to be very interesting with Shaw out of spring practice because of his surgery. If Thompson improves this year as much as last, it will be more interesting. Even this year when SOS spoke of Thompson he said "[E]very time he starts, he throws for 300 yds and 3 TDs." Shaw's surgery was needed but I think it comes at a bad time for him because it allows the backups to get more snaps and more experience while Shaw sits idle.
17 - 3 is all I have to see. Shaw will be the starter. He will be healthy and 100% by the fall. The guy is a winner and will learn from last yr. that he has to protect himself when running. DT will play. He will be the starter once Shaw graduates.
SOS will love making D-Coord's have to game plan for great runner who can pass AND a great passer who can run it a little bit. We are more multi-dimensional on offense with Shaw at QB. When DT is in the game we are pretty much going to pass it most of the time.
Now repeat after me 17 & 3 .... 17 & 3. And maybe by this time next yr 31 & 3. Think about it.
Except that we don't assign a W/L record to a WR any more than we would say that the Braves were 94-68 with Chipper Jones starting at 3rd. It's not done for a reason. Otherwise, great analogy.
Time for Landon ard I step up and win the starting qb position!
Together we stand, together we fall, together we are winners and winners take all
How many rings do Tom Brady and Manning brothers have from being a non scrambler? If i'm not mistaken DT ran for over a 100 yards against Clemson this year correct? Not saying DT should be the starter or CS should be but there is a legitimate battle as to who will be the guy next year. How can you shy away from what DT has done. He has yet to fail in 2 HUGE games on the ROAD. Shaw's ROAD record isn't the best.
No one can say 1 or the other right now but I favor DT
Two huge road games? You mean the bowl game? The same bowl game that shaw has 200 yards passing, 100 yards rushing, and 2 TDs in? How does Thompson get credit for a HUGE game on the ROAD there while shaw doesn't?
LOL! This is why anyone who says DT is better quarterback gets a huge eye roll from me. Talk about inflating stats. DT ran for 38 yards against Clemson, or about a third of what you thought. Everyone thinks DT is phenomenal, when the truth is his numbers don't back that up at all. He's been awesome for us this year, but he hasn't played well against the SEC, period. Could that change in the future? Absolutely.
