I really hate he just waisted a year of his football career for what 3 plays? I know he says he won't be here for 6 years but you never know what could happen. Maybe if we were moving the ball on the ground but our OL did nothing for the run game. I hope he turns out to be a good one just doesn't make since to me to play him when it wasn't necessary.
Yeah and on one of the plays he was in Connor kept the ball on the option to the left inside and Shon was waiting for the pitch with no defenders near. Would love to have seen him get the ball in that open space.
i agree, it looked like we had it blocked and shon may even have been able to score. would have been good to have seen him run anyway.
Didn't waste it. The kid was ready and wants to play. He is a baseball player and will likely look to go that route in the future IMO. He won't be here in 3+years
He most certainly wasted it. How can you make a case that he didn't waste it?
he won't be here 6 years. Therefore he did not waste it. Not that complicated raisin nuts.

It is only a waste if you are going to use it in the future. The kid is supposed to have high baseball draft potential which is ultimately the direction he will likely take in the future
Not to turn this in pissing match but I do think he waisted a year for a few plays that amounted to nothing. He may try to play MLB but hasn't even made the team for the yardcocks. I know he wanted to play but he wasn't needed nor did he look any better than 31 or 28.
I'd love to be able to predict the future, but it seems logical to keep that entire year instead of wasting it for 4 plays in a bowl game. you never know what the future holds. He may wish he had that year
Doesn't want to be at USC 6 years, even if you do. Kid can see life after football, who can blame him.
He's a RB. If he's good he's gone before year six. If he's not good he's gone before year six. Sorry to break your heart.
It was his choice...what is so very hard to understand about that????
It was his decision, He doesn't want to be in college for six years,
I got that. Hope he doesn't wish he got a masters
OP might need a 6th year to learn the difference between Waist and Waste...
To kinda bring up another subject
the guy who got 95% of the snaps was just not with it and we had 2 others plus Shon who really needed a real try
name calling is kinda juvenile eh.....raisin nuts?
Well for argument sake, let's say he wasted a year of his life, however, if he stays here and runs behind our offensive line for 4 more years, he will probably be dead so it's not a bad trade off.
Since he doesn't intend to be in college 6 years, that means it would be a waste to not play him. Did you consider that?
how many snaps did he play today?
I was told that if he took a medical redshirt he could not try out for the baseball team. Might have been his motivation?? Not sure..
I'd bet that if you polled the scholarship kids(as in - do you plan to be here 'X' number of more years to get them to 6), that close to 95% would say they don't intend to be in college for 6 years. Hell, I bet upwards of 75%, or more, would say they don't intend to be there 5 years.
I'm fine with Carson's decision, I just find the theory intriguing for a handful of plays in one game. What if Kwinton Smith told the coaches he didn't intend to be here for 5 years - should he have thrown out there also?
