Notwithstanding hate thread on Notre Dame, but Kelly has done a hell of a job and he has a long list preceding him of big hires that failed miserably. Will be interested to see how far he can go and can he sustain it. I think ND is good but not in the class of Alabama, LSU, Oregon.
Both Spurrier and Snyder would be doing at least as well at Bama as Saban, imo. Spurrier would beat Saban 8 of 10 times with the same players, on a neutral field. Spurrier is the better game coach. They are both perfectionists, and very demanding of their assistants.
Snyder has a very similar W-L record at KSU, with a bunch of 2* kids and JUCO transfers.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
red, good choice and counter argument with Kelly at ND. Wasn't he at Cincy where he overachieved with the Bearcats in Ohio State's own back yard?
Steve, I agree with you that Spurrier would beat Saban 8 out of 10 with the same players on a neutral field. I'd go one step further stating Spurrier would win more than half against Saban just taking "his and beating yourn and taking yourn and beating his."
Recruiting is part of coaching. Coach Spurrier is free to recruit and sign the same players Saban signs.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
At least as well? So......3 straight nattys?
Ya'll, Spurrier has been keeping us down. The dumb guy just needs to go recruit the players that Saban signs. I wonder if he knows it is just that simple.
His predecessor didn't leave the cupboard empty.
Do you disagree that Spurrier's been free to sign the same players Saban has signed since he's at Bama?
Nope, you are right, he has been holding us down by repeatedly refusing to sign the best players in America. Thank you for opening my eyes.
Do you disagree that recruiting is part of coaching?
Steve, you're overdosing on kool aid....even for your standards
Al, do you really think that if Saban was the head coach here in Columbia, he would have even half of his Bama players here in Columbia?!? The trick here in Columbia is to keep players like Marcus and Clowney home and not going to a school like Bama with more tradition, facilities and money.
I believe that if Saban was in Columbia we'd keep the best SC players at home and I believe he'd sign better players from outside SC.
Best current coach? Quite possibly.
Best in 50 years? Disagree.
Noscreen, are you even 50 years old?
Al, other than Fulton a DB, what player have we lost to Saban that we really wanted? We lost Sam Montgomery but that was to LSU.
You are right. Spurrier is holding us back from being the best program in the country. It's a shame he let such talents as Gilmore, Clowney, Marcus, Mitch, Rolin, Bryant, and the likes go play for Saban.
You have a vendetta against Spurrier. Is is jealousy? I don't know. But posts like these are delusional if taken in the best possible context.
You talking SC players?
I don't have a vendetta against Spurrier. Neither do I have my nose buried in his backside.
All that said was that Sabin would sign more talented players.
You disagree with that AND think it's delusional?
