We came out ahead on this one IMO
No question about it, especially since Rolin is injured and may have moved to TE and Dallas is not D1 quality.
dont forgot golson
seriously tho, outstanding close by staff (especially the newer ones doing their share)
bryant, moore, walton seem to be perfect trio for our scheme
and they all seem like they have outstanding character
excellent LB haul imo
very glad we passed on powell btw
especially on dallas, replace a will or spur with a MIKE. these guys will be expected to play early, I hope they will be able to contribute positively
I would add even another ">" or two.
I'll agree, but only because kight Dallas had no business getting a d1 offer.
Time will tell if Rolin Is indeed the goods or not fit for lb. Botkin's opinion does not yet hold much merit to me. If walton pans out and Rolin gets buried at fla, then that will go a long way. But lots of people including us thought Rolin was very good before he decommitted.
Keep in mind Moore is a kid who didn't have an instate offer from the big three until today, and Walton was being recruited for an h-back role by auburn. I don't consider auburn to be arbiters on linebacker Evals either, so that doesn't mean Walton can't be a good one.

Weren't they telling him H-back as a ploy to get a commitment? I'll trust the coaches on it. LB sure looks better that three weeks ago.
I liked Rolin a lot, but no question about it, we came out ahead. Moore has a very similar skill set to Rolin, so that is a wash. I liked Rolin a lot due to his coverage, and Moore looks great in coverage. Walton is a big, strong athlete, who is a MIKE type. Moore is pretty much a textbook WILL. Dallas would have been a scout team/special teamer.
We also have Larenz, and David Johnson. Johnson is the intriguing one to me.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Regarding Walton, he had a full ride at Linebacker U (Penn State) prior to decommitting.
Regarding psu, their program is kind of in shambles.
Not saying these aren't solid guys, but considering the last three years we've had and the lack of bodies we have on our depth chart, solid is a little disappointing. Glad our staff rallied decently after Rolin, though. It could have ended up much worse.
And for the record, I agree. Any lb combo is better than a combo with kight Dallas imo.
Understand they have had some problems but that has nothing to do with their eye for talent or their ability to develop talent. For years they have produced talent at the LB position and have long been known as LB U. The fact they wanted Walton speaks to the fact they saw talent in the kid. Excited to have him and think he will contribute during his career. Btw, they are ranked right behind us in the recruiting rankings....still getting the kids to come there.
The staff gets big kudos for Moore and Walton. Agree they are a better combo than Rolin/Dallas (although I liked Rolin).
This plus linebacker U's coach is fresh from the NFL, time will tell the kid has a frame to add a little more weight, it will be interesting to see how he develops.
"Act like you've been there before and expect to be back." - Bear Bryant
"You’re either a block-gobbler, a farmer, or you’re a damn hunter and playmaker."
I thought he was around 230 right now?
This is the best LB class we have ever had. Moore/Walton much better than Rolin/Dallas.
Moore is far better than Rolin. He is much faster and can play in space much better.....not even that close.
Agree on all points
Dissappointing? We signed the top player in NC, a 4* from Fla, a BIG MLB ranked 89 from jawja, and Walton from Bama. I'd say the LB class we signed is of the "excellent" category.
Larenz sounds like a stud no doubt. He just needs to add weight and he should be excellent. Skai is a solid prospect, but it's worth noting he didn't have an offer from the big three until the worst of the three offered on signing day. Who is the big linebacker from Georgia? I'm taking a wait and see approach on Walton. Plays 1a private school, the lowest division in the typically lowest league of football. Psu is a decent offer, so is Tennessee, but it's hard to get excited about a guy who didn't get an offer as an lb at an instate school.
Again, please don't turn my words into saying this is some terrible linebacker haul. It's pretty good. I was just hoping with our success, particularly on defense, and our opportunity at lb we could have capatalized on some players who are ready right away. I'm also not saying a Rolin and kight combo is better than what we have now.
David Johnson is the big guy from jawja. He's been labeled as one of the most under rated guys this year.
Like Spurrier said, it's how things go on saturdays in the fall that really counts, but I like this group.

Yeah I think he clicked in around 227 but I'd like to see him get up to 240, 250 and just tear it up
