Believe that Strong wants the South Carolina job when SOS retires.
Would love to get Charlie. If we hire from within I want Elliot to get the job.
that exact thought crossed my mind when he turned down UT...think it has legs
This is exactly what Charlie wants. His wife and family love Columbia and the USC fan base. He will build an even stronger program at Louisville and dominate inside the weak ACC for 4 more years and then in a perfect world, take over for SOS after the 2016 season.
He would do great here.
If he loved us so much, then why did he leave us in a lateral move?
I seriously doubt he's waiting for our job to open up.
I agree to certain extent.. But, I really do respect Strong for staying with UL. Shows a lot of character IMO.
He was forced out by Lou. Lou saw him as a threat to his son taking over the program when he left. Ask the insiders and they will tell you this as well.
My son's message to Obama, Clemson, and Georgia
Who cares about Strong? We all know Gruden is waiting around for this job.
Elliot? Our program has come to far to take that risk.
Mine exactly too to be honest. It makes a ton of sense.
Florida was a lateral move in 2002?
Just to get this straight, you want to hand a perennial top 15 program to a guy that has never been a coordinator, is 3 years removed from FBS, and whose results have been shaky/inconsistent at best as a position coach?
I love Elliott. Love his passion and tenacity. Maybe someday 10 years down the road. But I will never understand this fascination with Elliott even being a candidate, much less a frontrunner.
Yeah, I have no idea about Strong's feelings towards USC, but going to be the DC at Florida when he did was DEFINITELY no lateral move. He also won two national titles. Not sure how anyone could blame him for that move.
My thoughts exactly. we have come a long long way, but Florida is not a lateral move.
I hope he holds out til Spurrier retires then becomes our next head coach.
Recruiter, motivater and great guy
He would be a dream for our next head coach.
That was NOT a lateral move at that time. Lets not kid ourselves. Now is a different story.

Why doesn't anyone consider whammy when SOS retires 5 years from now?
Strong would be a home run. He gets kids to play. I think that is the the hardest quality to find in a coach.
I REALLY wish I could go into details, but I will say that those Louisville people are pretty smart.
Really dude? How delusional.
Lateral move is as much of an opinion. Look where he is now. What do you do for a living?
Well he's staying put for now!

If Spurrier coaches until his contract expires Charlie Strong will be 58 years old when he first takes the field as our coach. No thanks.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
You know different?
What's the big secret?
