...when did I ever say you were criticizing Tanner and Spurrier? I simply pointed out that Spurrier and Tanner were approaching this situation with level heads and not going around with their hearts on their sleeves. You don't boycott an institution for having an opinion. You boycott the institution for spreading lies. So what, a writer has us one spot behind average. It's this kind of "everyone's after us" mentality that has kept this program from moving forward in the past. It's time to leave that mentality behind. If you want to disagree with him, fine. But to act like he shouldn't be able to say it is completely different.
I didn't say he shouldn't be able to say it. I gave facts, and presented an opinion.
One, I'll boycott what I please. Two, I don't tell other people what their mentality ought to be, don't go telling me.
I've been attending USC games since 1969. I have two degrees from USC, was married in Rutledge Chapel, have been a dues paying alumnus, member of the Lettermen's Association and Gamecock Club member for 30 years.
I don't need a damned lesson on what's kept this program from "moving foward" or how to be a Gamecock from you or anyone else. My guess is I've forgotten ten times more than you know about this program. But that's just my guess and unlike you, I've been around the block enough to know that I don't know it all.

Considering your usual position it's probably Ray Tanner's backside.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
I guess that is why the AP poll is ignored. Newspapers...good business to be in these days, right Al?

Going by resume only? UF
Won at AM, at UT, LSU.
I think we're a little bit better but if u take away the meaningless preseason rankings then I could see someone putting UF ahead of us.
Left to right: Reed and Blondie,
It is 1 spot.
I would rather us handle our business and settle things on the field at the end of the season than pout unnecessarily and point fingers like a spoiled child.
We have to get over The State. Morris has pretty much been emasculated as a writer. I don't see Josh Kendall's vote being that controversial that it needs 1 page let alone 2 pages in discussion.
LSU is up. That is who we should focus on. This is just as big a game as UGA because it shows our foot is firmly on the throttle. A loss and we look like we just got up for a big game and can't sustain it. A loss and all this griping is for not.
Nice witty comeback there Al. I give you credit for that one.
But if you are suggesting that I am a Ray Tanner fan then you are correct.
There are only three people I know who don't appreciate the job Tanner has done at South Carolina. One is now in Texas. One writes for the state for now. And the other fills up message boards with meaningless posts.
Low, exactly right. Some think ESPN, mark may, etc etc are aGainst us. We lose credibility on Morris who is evil and at a level way past the others. Mark and Lou are entertainment and don't intend to be taken seriously
I very much appreciate the job Tanner did as baseball coach. I am especially appreciative of his decision to hire Coach Holbrook.
It was a very wise move on his part.
I'm sure Holbrook appreciated it too.
I have confidence that Holbrook will continue the tradtion that Richardson, Raines, and Tanner have built here.
Penguin Wrestling is a highly skilled sport and not appreciated outside of frozen climates. Just think how difficult it is to take down an opponent using fins instead of arms??
Not StuckInYankeeland anymore...
I wouldn't say that.
I can see someone saying "I don't care," but I especially don't get the people defending Kendall who just point out the small difference between his votes and our spot, but ignore that I contrasted it with him having the taters an average of FIVE spots higher each week than their actual position.
A lot of them are probably kids who don't remember Helms, Bob Spear, David Newton, Joe Person, etc., plus Big Al has a schtick of being a contrarian and I understand that. I doubt if he bothered to downvote anyway,
Anyway, as the HBC says, "it is what it is." No big deal.
