Who is in charge of educating and coordinating the students regarding these things?
In the words of the Donald... you're fired.
Not sure how it could be enforced....but IMO somehow tie the ticket used to the student and if they leave early they lose their privileges for tickets to future games.
I am massively sunburned. Stayed the whole time, but I don't blame anyone who didn't want to be a red tomato like me.
From what I've heard it's a combination of things. 1. the new season ticketing system a lot of people don't like for whatever reason. (didn't get a season ticket, difficulty, etc) 2. the in game atmosphere (when football is not being played) is boring. 3. Margin of victory. Bottom line, from what I gathered, students want it to feel like a party during breaks in the game.
Very true. The band plays far too much during timeouts. We need more dance music.
Every game going into the fourth quarter they play for about 4 or 5 minutes straight after 2001 and it basically puts people to sleep.
One word- SUNSCREEN
This isn't burger king
Instead of whining they should come up with things to support their Gamecocks . I've been to games all over this country . Y'all are weak
So y'all never spend the day at the lake? Much less 4 hours?
How do you combat this " sun" then?
Grow a sack
I bet you all were in the shaded part the whole game. Give me a break. There were multiple people being taken out on stretchers cuz of the heat.
FWIW I stayed the whole time.
Must have a bunch of wimps going to school now. Very disappointed in the students so far. I gave them a pass for ECU and UAB, but this is SEC football. Bet the Bama students didn't leave in their blowout.
I refuse to leave before the clock reads 0:00 even if we just taking a knee.
I stayed the whole game and am a student. Y'all are preaching to choir though, do you really think the ones who left early are the ones who get on these message boards? But I'm glad you can get your rocks off complaining about something when we just blew out an SEC team. Like another poster said, we don't come on here and complain that the rest of the stadium sits the majority of the time and pales in per capita decibel levels.
Not sure why all of the name calling is necessary, but I guess anybody can be a big man on a message board...Blanket generalizations are a sign of ignorance.
Oh and I can promise you that the student section wasn't shaded and the tickets aren't free FWIW. It's sad when grown men are complaining about people staying all the way through a blowout, but I suppose some people feel the need to complain about something...Come on guys if people start leaving halfway through a close game with Georgia or Tennessee then I will be the first one to agree with you that a change is needed, but until then get your panties out of a wad and enjoy the success.
You are a right. They left way too early again. I really am disappointed in them this year.

The students were weak. Bottom line. Very disappointed.
Sometimes, in the course of human events, people get lit on fire.
Unfortunately, the people who need to see this aren't members of TBS. Bottom line, most college students are dumbasses. Drinking and trying to be cool are far more important than the football game. Most of them would take a big, raging party over a win. It's a social event that happens to have a football game taking place next to it. I suppose they could start charging more for student tickets to weed out some of these people, but, really, I'm not sure what the right answer is.
It's just tough to force students to feel more invested in our football team. It's completely true that most of these students don't appreciate the talent they're getting to watch and how much better this team is than almost all USC teams of the past. Hell, I was a student more recently (06/07/08 seasons), and even I had to sit through a lot of rough games on the way to a fairly mediocre 6-6 or 7-5 season, yet never left early.
Maybe one day we'll see the expectations reach a place where there is pressure not to leave early and to keep cheering hard through the fourth quarter. In the mean time, I guess we can just read op/eds about the pathetic student participation.
