I am a bottom line guy so a win is a win and for that, I'm happy. We are now 9-2 and for that, I am thrilled. However, we did not play the game right. Our offensive line was absolutely horrible today. Connor Shaw looked like he was hurt, sick, or a green freshman out there today. The defense, after completely stuffing Wofford for the first 3 drives or so, starting missing tackles and getting away from responsibilities. Understandably, the crowd was dead too. After Spurrier called the crowd out a little bit, you gotta bring more than that.
The INT that Connor threw should've been an easy TD pass. Miles, I think, had left his man and had nothing but green between him and the back of the end zone. The fumble by Davis was equally bad, because inside the red zone, you can't be careless with the ball. He had made a great run but was carrying the ball down by his hip instead of the way he's been taught..
I was proud of the way the defense bowed up in the 4th quarter and stopped Wofford several times. Against a ball-control, clock-killing team like Wofford, you simply can't turn the ball over. This was just like the Navy game last year. Painful to watch and more of a relief than excitement to win.
Some great points MCR.
good points all around. The INT was definitely frustrating because all he had to do was lead him...if you miss, miss long on that one.
same on run...great run...I think Mike D had big eyes for the endzone there.
worst game in a long time by the OL, Corey Robinson had a very rough day against a guy he had 100 pounds on.
just a problem cause you only get a few possessions a half against those guys, and if you don't come out hot, its a struggle.
defense played well though...yeah they moved the ball, but knew that was gonna happen, and they toughened up in the 4th.
It's going to be very, very important that Connor come out hot like he did against Georgia if we are going to beat the Tigers. Their defense is really piss poor, but their offense is fast and has a lot of weapons, even against good teams. We can and will outscore them if we don't turn the ball over but Spurrier needs to have the confidence to dial up anything in his mind, and on a day like today, Connor simply wasn't sharp. The numbers look much better than it did live.
