We’re always trying to make this site better and we’ve decided it was time to add a new staff member. I would like to announce that photojournalist Ryan Bethea has joined our team here at TheBigSpur.com.
We have admired Ryan’s work from afar and the time was right for us to invite him to join our team. He became an official member of our staff on November 1 and will begin working with us immediately shooting football, basketball, baseball, and various other events.
Ryan and current photojournalist Juan Blas will form a pretty dynamic team to deliver to you all of the action in still shots from Gamecock athletics. We’re really excited about adding a second photographer that will work exclusively with us. Juan has done a great job and he’s brought in a few others from time to time to help with various events but Ryan will be at most events and deliver content both on the 247Sports and SmugMug platforms.
I hope all of you will join me in welcoming Ryan to TheBigSpur.com family. We're definitely excited to have him and I can't wait for another event so he can show off his skills.
Below are a couple of sample photos of his work so you can see what kind of job he’s done in the past.

Welcome Ryan! Those are some sweet pics; I love the one of Shaw flying.
Ryan was also one of the most talented receivers to ever play at USC. He was Calvin Johnson before Calvin Johnson was cool.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Can Ryan Bethea stil run a 4.3 and go get it across the middle to save Todd Ellis's arse
sharpe & bethea made up a heck of a tandem.
RB was a five star recruit before that terminology was even used....great talent during the JoMo era.
One of the best I've ever seen.
I remember cruising with Ryan in the IROC back in the day.
Left to right: Reed and Blondie,
Ryan bethea, ryan bethea, will goo, down inside the 10!
George Strait-Entertainer of a Lifetime
Nice! Welcome Ryan, glad you are part of the BSpur.
mmm mmm mmm "South Carolina Gamecocks" Good
i really miss that time. dressing in black walking around looking tough...of course i was nearly thirty years younger, so i could get away with it a little
some good days, some odd days. pretty much like life
DV for it not being CockHoundM...
John, will 257Sports provide a better platform for viewing pictures? The thumbnails in the normal viewing are too small.
Great hire though...very excited!
You cats have the wrong Ryan unless he changed races and turned back the clock 20 years! LOL
I'm thrilled to have Ryan on board here at TBS. I worked with Ryan at Gamecock Anthem and I'm sure you'll quickly learn what I did: that Ryan is a professional with a great eye and also a really good person. We're committed to TBS being the best place anywhere for Gamecocks coverage and I believe Ryan being here will only enhance our continuous push towards that goal.
Watch the 1987 Nebraska game to catch a glimpse of Bethea's supreme talent. Dennis Green said he was the most talented football player he had ever seen.
Ryan, was on my American Legion baseball team. Freak athlete great guy.
Agreed. Low resolution and way too small to view. I really hope 247 makes the change.
Terrific hire. Ryan seems talented.
I'm sure 99 percent of yall know this but for the 1 percent that doesn't, this Ryan Bethea is not the former wide receiver.
