Either James Franklin or The Chad per Heath Cline

I'm holding out hope that the results of last night's game will put a serious damper on the Chad Morris envy by some Gamecock fans who have apparently had their minds warped by listening to too much Upstate sportstalk radio.
All I've seen from that offense over the last two seasons is that it can put up ridiculous numbers against lousy defenses, but fails against legitimate teams.
Hate to say it, but I think Tommy Bowden would be a great hire for State if they can't land Franklin. They need someone who can recruit, and despite his deficiencies Bowden can recruit.
This is true but I didn't know Bowden was interested in coming back?
Franklin will hurt us a lot less at NCstate. The kids we recruit against want to play in the SEC so no matter who they hire we will still get our share.
Franklin would be taking a step back if he goes to N.C. State IMO. Better to stay at Vandy and continue what he's building until a better offer than the Wolfpack comes along. He'll hear Debbie Yow out but I highly doubt he's leaving.
Not sure how NC State is a step back. Franklin will literally never win the SEC -- or probably even finish in the top two of the SEC East -- at Vandy. 8-4 is a tremendous accomplishment. NCSU could easily win the ACC numerous times in a decade with a good coach. They're more committed to football than people realize. They've sold out season tickets for 9-10 straight years. They have a really good in-state recruiting base. Franklin would sort of be a perfect fit there. Now, Vandy can probably afford to pay him as much as they desire, so it may come down to how deep into their pockets NCSU wants to reach. I think he'd be a great hire for NCSU though.

i agree he has a better job at vandy right now and he has two years of developing behind him and they have given him anything he wants. but yow will let him know that ncs will be in the sec soon along with vt. that might push him over to her but i doubt it.
Simple question, where can he win more games and have a chance to compete for a conference title, Vandy or State? That's a no brainer...
I am hearing Franklin is at the very top of Yow's wish list by far.
He would probably be able to build a good program there.
NCSU fans in general that i have talked to (even before this weekend) have said that they would love that hire.
I hate it for Vandy if he goes, but Vandy football program is what it is.

George Strait-Entertainer of a Lifetime
I think Vandy's football program is in better shape then NC STs and they are in the SEC, not the Big East II which NCST is in.
Yow is a known idiot. Those fans at NC ST always think they can get better coaches than they can in reality. I remember when they were sure that Calipari was leaving Memphis for their "dynasty" on tobacco road.
Where do you think that he will be able to succeed in creating a conference winning/BCS bowl (eligible) team... Vandy/NCSU?
If he succeeds with putting together a team of the same caliber that he had this year while at NCSU, there is no doubt that he will have a team that will compete for the conference championship year after year.
I am not saying that he will take it, but that is who they want. There are other openings out there if he wants to look around.
I don't think he will be able to win the conf in either place. But if he keeps going to bowl games at Vandy for next couple of years, he will get a better offer than NC ST. A lot better. Like upper tier SEC, Big 10, or Big 12 better.
Franklin will probably get an offer from Auburn or UT. NC State will hire someone like Chad Morris.
Chad, the offensive genius is more their speed at this time.
Regardless of what is said here, Franklin is Yow's #1 choice.
Can she get him there, who knows.
If he gets there, I have no doubt that he will be successful. Playing HS teams all season long gets you a lot of wins. Had this years Vandy team switched places with NCSU, they would have been 9-3 at worst, and probably 11-1 with only loss to FSU.
We will just have to wait and see.
Agreed. Vandy probably would have won the whole thing this season.
Does anyone here really think that Chad is HC material in a BCS conference (yes even the ACC)?
After listening to him talk and act over the past 2 years, I just can't imagine him being a successful HC. Maybe after being an OC for a HC that can teach him what the role really entails instead of that clown in Pickens. He just doesn't "sound" and act ready for something like that.
