Vandy Still Sucks

Upvote to you sir, Someone who actually sees the truth about Franklin.

However, I do not see anyone on our staff that I would promote to HC. I had hoped that person would be GA Mangus but not sure if that could happen now. Although it would not bother me at all. There is not another person on our staff that is qualified to be the head coach of a top 20 program in the country.

Recruiting isn't everything, but the fact Franklin has a Top 25 class at Vandy is amazing in itself.

I'm unclear as to why you feel the need to convince people he sucks as a coach. He doesn't and it makes you seem like an idiot.

Do you not see it happening because the dude peed in public? Crap, I'm disqualified too. If this keeps up, Hyman's search is going to be too easy when SOS retires.

  • Never fails. The coach at vandy is always billed as a great coach and he always fails and is not heard from again. Not sure I understand this repetitive process.

Not a idiot at all. Again I know it has been tough to recruit to Vandy but It should not be. One of the best academic school in the country and they are in the SEC. Should be Stanford like.

It is not that I think Franklin sucks, I don't I said that. I said Vandy still Sucks. I said Franklin is over rated by so many ass kissers of you that are scared of playing them on opening night next year. He is over rated if you are saying he is one of the best coaches in the SEC or in some cases you try and make him out to be a great coach or one of the top in the country. It's just stupid and untrue.

All the things you say you're arguing against are things you've made up in your head. Not one person on this board has said he's one of the best coaches in the SEC, much less the country.

It seems to me that you've created an argument for the sole reason of hearing yourself talk. Congrats on that, I guess. Continue to scream from your pulpit in an attempt to convince a fictional group of people that your asinine argument is valid. I think this will end well for you.

no the peeing public doesn't bother me at all. I hope he does get the job but with the salary freeze and no bonuses I think going on 2 more years ( might only be one more ) because of the self imposed penalties, him being kept away from the press for so long this year I just thing they will long out side because their is no one else close to qualified on the staff to be head coach. It is not really a concern at this time because we don't know who will be available or even when SOS will leave.

you are a complete and total idiot, I am not about to go through all the crap that has been said about him on here this season. All season long it has been a love fest even several talking about him becoming our next coach. He has had 1 year and finished 6-7 and that's not a great coach and he is not the kind of person I want here. You keep banging the drum if you want to, I'm not interested.

You calling me an idiot is a compliment, trust me. There has been no love fest. It's all in your head.

By all means, continue to bash Franklin. There's no reason to do it, because nobody cares, but I have a feeling you're not interested in retorts. You're just here to bitch about stuff. More power, brother.

I must have missed the post (couldn't have been much more than one) where folks were saying they wanted him as our next head coach. Franklin has gotten a lot of "spirited" discussion on here this week, that's for sure. That may not be a bad thing if it translates into the national scene, because it may mean he's making people take notice of Vandy for a change. Personally, I think he's done a nice job in a tough situation for anyone, not unlike Cutcliffe at Duke. I'd much rather our fans blast Yaboo or someone who isn't a true and talented coach, who has more at his disposal, than take cheap shots at a guy who is trying to change the culture at a school like Vandy.

I'm also glad the bowl game is 24 hours away, and maybe it will take some focus off the man for a bit. LOL!!

Since when is the number 34 in the top 25? And no way they finish higher than that with how they will close.

    I apologize. I was mistaken.

That said, how long have you followed recruiting? Do you remember Vandy being Top 50 before?

I'm not here to say Vandy is taking over the SEC. Contrary to every post Rebel makes, that hasn't been said on this board.

Credit should be given where it's due, though. Franklin is a very good recruiter, at the least. I believe he's also a good coach. If you disagree, please actually give reasons why.

Rebel's hiccup-interrupted drunken tirades are pretty damn annoying.

Yes they've been top 50 before, they usually land a class of 3 stars and that puts them anywhere from 40-60. This is a big deal because they got one 4 star and took a kid ut wanted. Overall the class is better than most, but not significantly. Heck once you leave the top 60 your no longer in a AQ league.

    247 rankings
    2011 -53rd
    2010 -46th

Given they have 20 in the boat and to my knowledge don't lead on any upper end 3 stars or 4 stars and their best DE commit is a target of bigger programs, I think they'll struggle to stay in the top 40.

Rag tag? not really, Vandy was not bad year before last and last year the hired a guy that was not qualified to be a head coach and never will be again. If you are comparing it to last year you are correct.

Lets let him win a few games before when try to give him a better job.

You should be able to recruit at Vandy, If players really are looking for a education it's a great school. Facilities make it tough but they are getting better.

You actually said Vandy was not bad two years ago??!!!??

Don't make an argument that is partly based on obvious incorrect facts. Do yourself a favor and look up the 2009 Vandy record. Come back and convince me they weren't bad.

Cincy had a month to prepare as well.

I am not a Franklin fanatic by any means, but he did a nice job this year. I don't want him as our head coach at any point in the near future. If he has a couple of 8 win seasons at Vandy, he should be considered for some.

    You compared Vandy to Stanford.....,

You said it shouldn't be hard to recruit at Vandy........(everyone I've heard or talked to says it is)

You said 6-6 should be easy at Vandy.....

You want to make a point about Vandy not being good. I don't disagree. Then you went and screwed the pooch by trying to make an argument that they should be. That's kinda dumb!

I think your hear voices. There was no love fest. on here

    Thanks for doing the research.

I personally think any Vandy coach will struggle. I just get annoyed with Rebel's posts because he's full of it.

I think Franklin is doing a very good job considering he's at Vandy. Is that an easy job? According to Rebel, it sells itself. Nevermind the fact that Stanford sucked before Luck and they'll suck after Luck. Academics are an easy sell to kids that are only concerned with making money.

And Lord no, I don't trust Rivals. thumbsup

Also, o'spop's post is exactly what my slightly-less-buzzed alter ego wanted to say.

Vandy probably shouldn't have been in a bowl. They only beat 2 SEC teams and that was Ky & Ole Miss.

Did they beat Tennessee this year??

No, lost in overtime if I remember correctly.

This is exactly right. Franklin has brought a little bit of enthusiasm to the program and is having some recruiting success, but to say he's a great coach is utterly laughable. Who did he beat this year?

  • Rebelcock84 said... (original post)

All of you talking about what a great coach Franklin is and how scared you are of playing them on Opening Day next year. I even saw someone say they would like for him to be the next coach at SC. All a bunch of BS, Vandy Still sucks and Franklin is just a middle of the road coach.

Had a month to prepare and gets beat by a middle of the road Big East team. Makes the whole SEC look bad. Vandy may never be any better than 6-6.

It would be premature to label him a good coach or a "middle of the road coach". He was a hell of a lot better than middle of the road this year, but that's one year. One could say Vandy's performance makes the whole SEC look good, just depends on your point of view.

  • I think it's safe to say this thread is quickly becoming "epic." Lol!! Gettin' a lot of blood pumping and let's us know we're alive!! Pass the popcorn. :)
