Announcers just said that "Gregg Marshall turned South Carolina down for head coaching job" during our recent search and subsquent hiring of Frank Martin. That is a shock to hear as I don't recall hearing he had ever been offered. I know some of that happens behind the scenes, but can Dubya W or someone else confirm and discuss. Maybe I missed it, but don't recall.
Would have been nice to get him. He turned Wichita State around quickly.
There were feelers put out but I don't know how far it went. I did pick the Shockers and am 4-0 in the first group of games.
No, he didn't. He was never interviewed or offered.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.

Not true, never offered and NEVER considered by Hyman. What WG posted is accurate, some feelers out by some folks, but not from Hyman, Hyman never considered at all.

Maybe the first time we had a chance, but I am happy with Frank now and given the choice between the two, i would take Frank in a minute.
Although Marshall has done a tremendous job and I herited a team with no real upperclassmen, they were only two years removed from a sweet sixteen when he arrived. It wasn't a huge rebuilding process in terms of having to take over a program that hasn't had some recent success.
He's done a great job and is obviously a very good coach. I wish we would have taken him over Horn, but in the end, we may have lucked out by being in the right place at the right time to get Frank Martin.
Who cares we have a great coach!
