I just became a fan within the last 5-6 years so I can't name some older games. This years Georgia game is probably up there, but it's hard to gauge how well we actually played. Georgia was just horrible. There was no fight in that team. Shaw's two big throws were horribly underthrown to Byrd and Moore, but their secondary communication was so bad it didn't matter. We could have won that game by 50 if we wanted to.
Have we ever played better than the 2010 Bama game? They were obviously a much better team than 2012 Georgia. Garcia's TD throws to Alshon were perfectly placed just out of reach of solid coverage.
Any other games stick out to people?
First off that UGA team won 12 games last year and almost played for the NC. We beat them and made them look bad because of how well we played not because of how poorly they played. That Bama team was number 1 when we played them but only won 9 games in the regular season. As far as a complete game on offense., defense and special teams the UGA game is the best I have ever seen us play.
Agree on the 2010 Bama game or perhaps a game we lost at their place a year earlier. Both those games were "ARRIVAL" games. WE first tugged on Superman's cape and we ,next, undressed Superman. We have played well at times over the years but beating Bama 90% of the time is huge....The Miami loss/fight back in the 80s also comes to mind as does Notre Dame at their place
We undressed superman? Sounds kinda iffy
The first time we beat Bama in school history was a HELLUVA game. 15 point comeback if I am correct to win 37-36
Played a heck of a game in 92 to beat UT
Whooped Clemsux 33-7 in their house
All of the above are great games played by Carolina.
The most dominating game (offense, defense,& special teams) I recall is 1987 vs. nc state. Final was 48-0. I think nc state had 2 or 3 first downs and less that 100 yards total offense. Defense knocked out two qb's. Sterling Sharpe almost ran the opening kickoff back for a td as refs said he stepped out of bounds. This was payback from the previous year where we had a game stolen from us in Raleigh.
And, if my memory serves me correctly, we could have scored 3 or 4 more TD's. We had several very long plays, returns, etc. nullified by penalties. Awesome game, especially since it came against Klemptec.
The carquest bowl! Great Scott!
3 come to mind virtually immediately.
1. beating Alabama at Willie-B in 2010 when they were clearly the @1 team in the country.
2. Hammering UGA last yr. They were ranked in the top 6 and we abused them.
3. Beating CU 56-21 in the mid 70's. Jeff Grantz was the QB. We had the ball 8 times and scored 8 TD's.
most efficient game by a USC offense I have ever seen.
the last game you mention is what led the Clemson boosters to start the pay for play program and commit to doing anything possible to never lose like that to USC again.
some think there is a similar thing going on now...
