I think the 3 groups we really need to step up this year are the linebackers, the wide receivers, and the running backs.
Linebackers: We all know we don't have anyone with experience here. It will be interesting to watch this group. I hope they are fast learners, and become a strength for the team as the season progresses.
Wide receivers: Other that Ellington, we don't have anyone who really produced last year. Multiple guys are going to need to have big years to make up for Ace being gone.
Running backs: We have two (what I believe to be) fantastic running backs in Davis and Wilds. But it's definitely a position I feel needs to step up. Davis only ran for 275 yards last year in (very) limited playing time, and Wilds hasn't played in a year.
Personally, I think the linebackers are the most important group. If we get good play out of them, I think we are in the SECCG. If they play poorly, it could cost us a couple of games.
What do you think?
Official Brandon Wilds adopter.
Because the unit lacks nearly any meaningful experience I'm going to say the LBs.
Close behind is the most important unit on the team, the OL. Those guys need to get better, especially in pass protection.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
I said it earlier and will say it again regarding the LBs. The best thing for young LBs is having a good front four. Well we are supposed to have a great front four so my only concern is that those LBs know the system, assignments, and were everyone needs to be. As well as stay healthy because our LB depth isn't as deep as other positions but that is a concern for the whole team also.
The obvious in the line backers, the necessary is the WRs. Gotta get some people open and have a jump ball threat.
^^^This^^^^. I'm not real worried about the LB's, but they don't have any experience, so they do. The most important is the OL. They definitely need to get better.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
I thought the WR were very good last year, when we actually threw it to them, they produced. Have to give them more chances.
ST, especially the kickers.
The o-line to me is the most important group. It's the one group that's never been dominate under the spurrier era! Imagine the plays that spurrier could call if we had good o-line..
