Before Russell Wilsom, the best football player at my small "elite" high school (New York Times description), was the younger brother of a teammate of mine. Some of you may remember him and know what i am about to saY. Ray Easterling was a walkon a U of Richmond and a 9th round pick by Atlanta. went on to be a headhunter safety for the Falcons before slowed with injuries. All in all he had a long career.
Ray killed himself this week. He was suffering from not only rapidly increasing demension, but the pain of 25 orthpaedic procedures/surgeries. He had become severely depressed. Ray was the lead plantiff in the suit against Ridell with 1,000 other x-NFLers mostly from the 70s. There are a lot of players with limited resources who are suffering. It will only get worse.
LOL, way to be a total blowhard. Sad story, but don't get your rocks off so much about Collegiate, your little elite high school.
I don't see anything wrong with Hodad's post. Are you always a ****?
That's what the NYT called it. Not me. Just some crazies there when I was there a long long time ago. Where did you go Highland Springs? You act like it.
I know nothing about the hs he references but it was a meaningful story, one about the one thing that could ruin football in this country, and based on your response you sir are a tool.
Id say he went to Varina. Hodad glad to know we have another Richmond gamecock on the board
Go! Fight! Win! Kick Ass!
Wow. You are a douche bag.
I'm a bird man living in NC. I know crow club was a colonial from col heights. He's in charleston currently.
''fair is not getting them same as everybody else, fair is getting what you need to succeed."
Awesome. I went to James River
A few Richmond area gamecocks on this board, huh. I had great pleasure wearing my Back to Back baseball national championship shirt last time I went home for all the UVA fans. Got. Few nasty looks but to bad
so was he expanding into space? like a reverse black hole or something?
That's a sad story... Two of my first cousins who are also my roomates went to Godwin and played against Russell Wilson. One of them landed a pic on the front page of the Saturday paper with a photo of them sacking Russell.
It's always sad to hear stories of mental illness and suicide. However, I have a real problem with the lawsuits against the NFL and equipment manufacturers. I don't think anyone with a nickel's worth of common sense would think that decades of pounding your head into fast moving human beings won't cause some damage and it doesn't take much to understand that a helmet isn't going to help much other than avoiding skull fractures.
