I've heard it like 5 times today watching ESPN. Not a fan of the name at all.
Samcock, it was called The Cockpit before I ever got to campus in 1970. Not a new thing at all.
A perfect description of what WB will be like tomorrow evening!
I realize it's not new, but I have never heard it on ESPN and today it seems that they really publicising the name.
...cockpit down our throats...
Exactly, full of aviation instruments, gauges and buttons.

Would you prefer pit o' cocks?
Do you think it's only a gag??
Not StuckInYankeeland anymore...
Cry me a river.
It's a great name.
They're doing what the school needs to.
I think its awesome.
Sorry I like it. Its been used for years and students have held up signs in the student section with it on it. saying Welcome to the Cockpit
My thoughts exactly... a bit weird...
You can't see! I can't see! All that matters is can the f*&%ing horse see! That's a raid!
Just more branding from us. Very smart IMO. I'm sure we have told ESPN to push it.

Valley of the cocks.... errr no
It's been called that forever. But I remember a few years back there was talks of putting a sign inside W B a la The Swamp but we couldn't because of PETA or something?
I guess Tanner decided we need to start pushing the name. I personally love it.
Cockpit was pushed as a nickname for WB by Paul Dietzel, who was always promoting. It caught on, but after he left it just died out.
When Spurrier arrived at USC he talked about the need for a nickname for our stadium a la "The Swamp" at Florida. "Cockpit" was floated but Hyman was against it for politically correct purposes.
God forbid he had run an airline. What would they have called the area where the pilot sits?
Perhaps now that he's gone, it is being pushed again. It's the logical name and a very good one to boot.
You do know that a cockpit is where Gamecocks fight, right? And that's where the "flight deck's" nickname came from.
I like "Cockpit". It certainly is better than "Willy B".No offense intended to the donors.
Which makes it the perfect nickname. I have always liked it.

"It ain't the size of the dog in the fight..."
Why, is it offensive to you? Would you prefer Gamecock Garden?
Well, good. It's the perfect name, especially now that we have such a great winning record at home.
