Do we have any g.a.'s or any former player

  • Up and comer coach? It is nice to see former players coaching at their former schools. Anyone capable?

  • People have said Dantonio is a USC guy. That would be a good hire.

You may run like Hayes, but you hit like $*!#

  • Yes, Mark Dantonio was a safety at USC. Some others
    - Cedric Williams has GA'd at USC and coached at Tennessee State and Newberry,
    - Eric Brown has coached at several small schools including Livingstone and VMI
    - Matthew Campbell is the offensive coordinator at VMI
    - Bennett Swygert is coaching at Newberry
    - Chris Rumph... probably goes without talking about :)
    - Tim Bell and David Poinsett were OL coaches at junior colleges but I don't think either is coaching any more
    - Mike Hold did a lot of coaching in the Arena league
    - USC GAs this year include Addison Williams, Dennis Thomas, Blake Baxley and Scotty Spurrier
    - Antoine Rivens coached several years at Coastal
    - Shane Burnham has been at Elon and Iowa State among others
    - Scott Browne has coached at Elon and I think VMI

That's off the top of my head, probably a few others I'll think of later

  • USC needs to make very solid hire. I'd much rather have an old proven coach than a young flavor of the month. If you know much about USC at all, what success we have had has typically been in hiring older already proven coaches.

We've struck out that way too, but not as badly as with young guys.

Even the "failed" old guys produced better than history. Dietzel won the acc, fogler the sec, odom exceeded the norm, holtz brought us from dead, spurrier is the best thing to happen to USC, if McGuire wasnt. Even tanner and frye had won at equal levels of competition.

Not sure what the young unproven coach has ever done for us.
