Encounter with a Dawg at work

  • Yesterday around 7 or so a UGA fan walks in my waffle house(in surfside beach I am the young black guy always wearing carolina gear.) And first words out of my mouth " I don't cook for dawgs" then flash my visor at him. I tell him how they lucked and won the east, He agrees and says he expects about the same this season. And is glad this Lattimore's last season. I told him maybe but he will finish with about 650 career yards against UGA. We both laughed and goes on to say he lives in Greenville and he loves the recent domination over Clemson. He ate paid his tab, tipped my waitress and yelled Go Dawgs as he walks out. I respond with Go Cocks. Another day at Waffle House.

  • Waffle House got our 3 year old (at the time) to sleep in his own bed all night. Made a deal with him that if he stayed in his room all night for a week I would take him on Saturday morning. It worked.

  • Good to see a story about an encounter with a Dawg that involves nothing but a good-natured back & forth. There are far too many fans (theirs, Clemson's, our own, etc) that would turn nasty when picked on like that. I wish there were more of these stories as opposed to the vicious, hateful encounters that we hear so much about. To me, winning & losing with class, humility and a sense of humor is much more fun. Of course, many disagree and I understand. I've had salt rubbed into the wounds too many times by Clemson fans to not understand overreactions & enjoying seeing other fans writhe in defeat. This was a good example of a fun exchange.

    That's the thing living here at the beach, we have piles of fans from all over walking around wearing their colors. Just proud to have some recent history to throw in their face when they look at my garnet and black.
