Encouraging comment re: Shaw

  • "He got a lot of passing in this spring, too, and works at it exactly the way you'd hope your quarterback would." -- Steve Spurrier

Remember how the HBC had to push SG? We don't have to worry about Shaw's work ethic.

I hope you are kidding. If not, wow.....just wow. You realize that the last 4 games of the season, crunch time, using the same system, his quarterback rating was higher than Tom Brady's for that same four week stretch.

Other than that, I really do not know what to say.

I think we will let Connor's play do the talking. Comments like this make me feel that you have lost the right to pull for them, especially once they start winning. If you cannot show confidence that they will win, which is all Shaw has done, btw-win, then you lose the right to celebrate with those who did once it happens. That is just my opinion, and certainly you have yours, which is your right.

You underestimate CS. He's a good college passer. His TD passes to BE and AJ in the Clemson game couldn't have been thrown any better.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

Also, Al, remember the TD pass to Buster, where that end was coming unblocked, and Shaw pump-faked, ducked under him, and threw the beautiful pass in the endzone to Buster?

I know I am telling you nothing new, but....If you look at the last four games. Shaw made some great, great plays under some serious heat. I think he will have one of the best years ever for a Gamecock qb this year.

Even you have to admit, Al, that Shaw was a great eval by the staff. He was not highly rated, though not necessarily low ranked. But didn't have an overly impressive offer list, and the coaches made him our #1 qb on their board that year.

Mangus did a good job evaluating Shaw. I hope his evaluations of McEvoy and Nosovitch also prove to be good ones.

As well as the 47-yarder to Ace in the fourth quarter of the Florida game that set up a crucial FG. To me, the mark of a good QB is being able to complete passes in game-changing situations.

I thought his throw to Alshon was the better throw because he had two DL converging on him. Even though he knew he was going to be hit he stayed in the pocket and made the throw just before impact.

Completely agree, that is what this system will produce with a QB willing to do that. That's the first time I can remember in a long time actually thinking SOS might finally have "that" QB.

Really? Did you actually watch him play? Shaw is going to be a good one and his passing is pretty darn good even by SEC standards.
