Florida State and Clemson Will Inform ACC Of Intent To Leave (L)

  • Not sure if true, but if the Big 12 would take WV, they would take Clempson. I think the TV market would be about the same.

Various sources with both schools are confirming that both FSU and Clemson will be informing the ACC of their intent to explore other conference optio

  • Big mistake by Clemson if true. No border states or natural rivals. This is a huge decision that is just being made as an impulse decision.

We made that mistake way back when. Thank God we found the SEC which has natural rivals and border states.

  • Don't think I would put too much faith in what this guy says. This is the same K. State guy that wrote the ridiculous cult article on Frank Martin.

  • So let CU inform the ACC of their intent to leave. How great would it be for them to leave the ACC and then for the Big 12 to reach out to Louisville or Miami instead? They would have walked away from one mess and into a complete disaster instead.

  • I think its funny the Big XII rumors from out there come from Baylor and K State. Two schools that need this to happen.

  • I think Clemson to the Big XII would be the absolute best scenario for USC. It puts them in a conference as a bastard stepchild to Texas (and they thought tobacco road was bad!) and, additionally, gives us a HUGE recruiting advantage. How many times have recruits balked at going elsewhere because "its too far from home". Well, now they'll be playing 3-4 games in the flyover States.

It also ends any and all speculation of them joining hte SEC. **IF** they did get left behind I can't see them sitting idle for long without the SEC taking a serious look.

    Hell, I'll help them pack.

It's the next best situation for USC. The next best situation is for them to get stuck in an even further depleted ACC with no way out. But, b/t them being in the Big 12 and the SEC, I'd much rather have them in the Big 12. If they thought UNC ran things in the ACC, wait 'til they get a load of Texas in the Big 12.

  • I don't think either team will join the Big 12. I don't understand why Virginia Tech and Boise State aren't in the conversation for a move to the Big 12. Virginia Tech has a lot more to offer as far as national brand than Clemson does and Boise is actually in the region.

i think you are correct, but they did not have any other choices. they were not going to get invited to the sec and did not want to get stuck with the few nc schools left in the acc, if it doesnt combine with the big east.

They can't afford not to jump on the first lifeboat off the ACC. Survival first, then worry about recruiting and rivalries.

Va Tech and the UVA are attached at the hip thanks to the VA legislature. I would love to see those morons have to play OU, TX, OK ST, FSU and USC that is several more real games than they have to play now. Maybe Baylor and KSU can keep their programs going and stomp them too. TX will make them play 12th banjo in that conference in general, OU will own them in football, Augie will be another daddy for JegLeg, and KU will stomp them like tobacco road does in BBALL. They'll enjoy going to Lubbock, Aames, and those type places because there will be plenty of farm animals around. I seriously doubt this happens, but it would be funny. If somehow Va Tech could get loose and jump ship with FSU that would be the best of both worlds. The asheshe and big least would have to try to raid each other or make one not so "super" conference not worthy of being in 1AA playoffs. Clemtard tech would still loose 3 or 4 they shouldn't and still be cream puffs when we play them. I think the scales are very very close to tipping our way for a very long time. If SOS stays for the 4 or 5 more season, continues the upward trend, gets an SECC or 3 and maybe even a crystal football dumbo's grandchildren will see the rivalry spun around 180 with many thanks to him and TDP.

  • I heard this from a guy whose daughter in law works in the CU athletic dept two weeks ago (I know, I know…the ever popular ”source close to the program”). He told me back then she said it’s all legit...

FSU and Clemson to the Big XII. Possible that Ga Tech and Miami bolt too.

ESPN can’t be happy. They orchestrated the Pitt (et al) move to the ACC and ponied up a bunch of TV money. Now, that conference is in jeopardy of becoming less interesting in football than Conf USA. The ACC negotiated a stupid deal with ESPN, but given the overall performance level of conference football lately, what did they expect? Clemson choked at the end of the season and is stuck with the ugly chick to the prom. If FSU leaves it lessens the level of football in the conference by a wide margin. On top of that, the Big XII has orchestrated a major bowl coup with the SEC and is looking to shore up their membership in a big way. ESPN will be handcuffed with one loser TV contract (ACC) and held over a barrel for the rights to air the Big XII.
