Garcia has USC Pro Day desires

Former quarterback Stephen Garcia threw two touchdown passes in three series in the Battle of Florida All-Star game and then said he wants to come back to USC for Pro Day.

  • I for one have no problem if he comes back for pro day. He is a Gamecock when he is on that football field.

  • Way to go Stephen.... good for you!

    CockyMike1

  • I thought he was already invited?

It would be pretty cool if he ended up on a team, even as a career backup.

And just like high school to college, even though the hit/miss percentage is better, college to NFL QB evaluations can be tough.

Anthony Wright did it, so can Stephen.

  • Stepehn needs to schedule is own pro day away from here. Sorry but he hzd his chances and we need to show other players that it is a privilege to be a Gamecock.

I'm sorry, but I couldnt disagree more. Stephen was immature, but he never hurt anyone. He was a member of this team for over four years and a graduate of our university. He is a gamecock and we should do the right thing and let him come to an event that could positively affect his future.

You need to let it go. Life is to short to hold grudges against a 22 year old kid. He admitted it was his fault and he should have matured better. Conner is going to do just fine and we have moved on.

  • Come on Coach and Hyman. Let him back for Pro Day. How do we start an internet campaign to make this happen?

  • If he wanted to have a pro day at USC, he should have thought of that before getting himself kicked off the team. Its pretty simple to do, really. more than 90% of our players don't get kicked off the team. Choices have consequences, and not being invited to USCs pro day should be a consequence for someone stupid enough to squander 5 chances.

  • IMO, Garcia will always be welcome at Billy-Brice. He'll get that welcome from me for the Alabama game alone and he deserves it from the school for delivering the first SEC East championship.

    pluvlaw

  • He paid the price by not being able to finish the season. Who knows maybe he gets it together, gets a contract and establishes a scholarship here. ;-)

Nothing positive is accomplished with a negative attitude.

  • honestly, he's no different than any other college kid but from the time he stepped on campus he was put under a microscope. he's got way more pro potential than tim tebow, a cannon that makes scouts drool, and he's a gamecock. always will be. i'm proud as hell of him and his performance last night. he deserves a shot at the next level.

Not necessary. He'll be here for Pro Day.

  • Sorry about the spelling. Handhelds are hard sometimes. Im an idiot. You are right. I suspect, however, that your animosity is more about my opinions of Garcia. No big deal. Reasonable minds can differ. I just think that he is a spoiled kid stuck in an adults body who let a ton of people down including most importathis teammates. If you want to sniff his jock until the end of time because he disgraced our university (assuming you should be included in that pronoun) then so be it. Or should I just type #ilovedrunkqbs for you to understand?

  • He's already been invited so this discussion is all kinda unnecessary. That's already been reported elsewhere for a few weeks.

Actually, according to Steve Spurrier, It hasn't been decided. Stephen's dad said he was going to be there but I believe Spurrier is the one who makes the decision.

  • I personally am proud of stephen. he could have pouted and cried and moaned, but he took responsibility, and showed his pride by wearing the helmet in the game. stephen will always be a gamecock, he has his degree, so it really does not matter what we all think. as someone that has struggled with addiction, i would have ended up the same, only it would not have taken five years for my drunk and high butt to have been booted out of cola. don't get me wrong, i empathize, but do not sympathize. if he gets it together, i hope he gets a shot. he has got to eliminate the huge mistake on and off the field. Stephen will always be a gamecock, and i hope he succeeds in whatever comes for him. don't let your disappointment in how he ended up on our football team let you make comments that hold him to a higher standard than you hold yourself to. if you didnt have a few cocktails and maybe even smoke lawn clippings when you were that age, then you were a lot more mature than i was.
