  • Any word on the meeting these two had with Martin?

He has more dollar signs after "right direction" than he does at the beginning of his tweet . Is that a clue ?

  • If we release them to a ACC or SEC school it will be very disappointing!

I am of the position that a player should be given a free ticket to go wherever they wish in the event of a coaching change. While they sign papers with the institution, their personal commitment was made to the coach. Wish them the best and go about getting your players with the new available schollies. The program honestly had gotten so bad that it probably needs totally rebuilding from the ground up. Just my opinion.

I totally agree but in this situation there have been a lot of reports of other schools trying to get these players.

  • Wow this would be a devastating blow..doubt there are many talented big men still available at this point to sign to replace them.

Ill be honest, if they dont want to be here then leave. I feel quite certain that frank martin will build a winner with or without them.. The bottom line to be a part of it

  • Is Hyman going to turn a blind eye to reports of tampering from other schools regarding these two?

What do you propse that he do? I doubt that they'll be released to a school that has "tampered" with them, if the coaching staff feels sure that has happened. I'm sure third party contact has happened, but that happens everywhere in every sport. Nothing has happened yet in terms of being granted any kind of release. Hyman, even if it was his decision, has had nothing to weigh in on.

LOL, is this really a serious question?

Yes. And he should be fired. The atrocities this guy has committed cannot be ignored any longer.

  • Well, maybe leader of the team can rally them back into the fold with talk of shared sacrifice and determination to turn the program around.

  • I say let them go, yes they are our best players, but that's not saying much. We need to wipe the slate clean, most of our team is soft, and shows on the team. We probably can find 14 pts in one player with their schollies.

  • I was listening to SportsTalk First Edition today and listened to their one-on-one interview with Frank Martin today. He had some interesting things to say, and you can listen to the audio linked below. I just wanted to point out that Martin was asked point blank if Anthony Gill and Damontre Harris requested their release. Martin, who is very honest, did not say, "No." He did not say yes, but he did not say no.

"They're going through the process trying to figure out if that's going to be the next chapter they want to go through," Martin said, when asked if both players had requested their release.

William Gunter reported, and we stand by the report, that both players asked for their release from the University. They were encouraged by the University to wait and meet with Frank Martin. Martin had some conversations with both players on Tuesday and will meet with the players and their families later this week. That's all that we can report right this second. As things become more clear as the week progresses, we'll give you the latest.

  • On Bob Costas' show tonight, Coach Martin said he was trying to get all the players to stay, or something to that effect. He is trying to "recruit" the current players and his meeting with some of the parents this weekend might go a long way toward that goal. It is my opinion that once everyone gets to know Coach Martin they will likely want to stay.

I agree with you here. Martin is a very likeable guy and I think he will be able to convince these guys that they are going to be the centerpiece of his teams. As you said, it is a matter of recruiting.
