Gill given release, more on Harris

The University has granted rising sophomore Anthony Gill a release, which gives him permission to talk to other schools. But what about Damontre Harris?

  • McAdoo will be gone and Gill is better than Hubert James and Brice Johnson...Isaiah Hicks is very good, but he and Gill are different players that could compliment each other well. That is their depth chart, Gill would be a very good add for them.

Duke will have lost Miles, Mason, R Kelley. That leaves them with Murphy, Hariston, and Marshall...I have to think that Gill is better than two of them.

Not to mention Gill is a high level player who can produce numbers at the highest level. I think he would be a great pick up for both schools...

Most of all though, I think he is paramount in keeping around USC.

Our fans are pretty blind sometimes. Also they cannot stand any negative development and tend to react emotionally.

Every analyst that saw Carolina play could spot gill's talent. but you know it's basketball so true freshman putting up 8 and 5 is not impressive because basketball is a sport where age magically doesn't matter.

Loaing gill is a big deal and probably more than half the high major teams in country and all mid majors would love to have him.

he still has to sit out a year and they would recruit better players than him in a year

  • He'll play at UNC or Duke if Coaches K or Williams retire and Horn is the replacement.

  • I'd like to keep him, but if his heart isn't in it no need in trying to force it. Best of luck to him.

We're talking about basketball players transferring. When we start a discussion about signing unknown, under-recruited camp phenoms I'll let you know.

I thought Gil was solid fundamentally and was very high on him early on.

As the season progressed, two things became apparent to me:

    1. He was not overly athletic. He did have good ball skills and that allowed him to be
somewhat of a mismatch on the outside against a four. Still, he didn't hold up well inside with athletic players.

    2. As weird as it sounds, I questioned his
basketball IQ. Consistently made dumb fouls over and over and over.

He may develop into a very good player,
but he is not Duke or UNC caliber, IMO. They may have a hole to fill short term -
and Duke sometimes has a solid role player - but he would not be anywhere up to par with what both have had at the four. Both will recruit significantly better players at his position, even young ones.

He will probably overcome the IQ part as he matures, but he will always be somewhat limited athletically. He is not an explosive athlete.

All that' said, I would love or have him for another you until we recruit over him. I think he's a generally fundamentally sound player that gives a good first impression. Over time, some of his athletic limitations and poor decision making become more apparent.

Good comeback, al. Try using some facts to defend your argument next time.

I conceded your point. I admit that Junior is as skilled at counting to 25 as any recruiting coordinator we've ever had. That he was able to count to 25 in his first year as RC makes makes his accomplishment all the more praiseworthy.

  • Harris is good on a good team. He is an NBA player at UNC. Sucks we sucked.

Yeah, what was he thinking signing a guy like McKinley? A HS QB - Thanks but no thanks
