Grienke to Braves?

When was the last time you saw the braves on TBS??? Seriously?

I don't watch them anymore. Don't miss my point because I didn't know what station they are televised on. The organization isn't playing to win and hasn't been for a while.

What we need is a SS. Fredi said he's going to rely on Wilson. God help us.

DO you watch the braves? We had the best SS in the league before he got hurt.

If you dont watch them anymore then how in the world would you know how the organization stood right now? They havent been on TBS in like 5 years. Its like saying you dont know why Clemson stinks because the headlines read they sign four 5 stars a year, but you dont follow their recruiting not knowing that they sign them and 15 other 2 stars and 0 lineman and their coach is a guy named Dabo.

If you don't follow them/watch them, can you even name the starters and first guys off the bench? Who's in the front office? What moves have they made since TBS went to the MLB contract?

But am I right? When is the last time they made a Fred McGriff type midseason trade to set up a stretch run? When is the last time they made a real run at a Greg Maddux caliber free agent in the offseason? Notice I didn't say SIGN they don't even try anymore. They only got Uggla because he was basically given to them.

Texiera, which backfired. They need to step it up no question...but with references to Maddux and Mcgriff it only says you have not watched in 10 years. Our young guys are good, we just need pitching, and because of injuries we need it bad now. When you dont have the money you used to have you really have to rely on young guys coming up through the farm leagues, thats why its so hard to give the young guns up.

The references to Maddux and McGriff doesn't show that I haven't watched regularly in 10 years (which by the way is a true statement)- it shows how long it has been since they have been in the game to win. Texiera was a strong move that I didn't mention because they didn't follow through to keep him. They could have been a player for Prince Fielder but they had too much money tied up in garbage salvage jobs like Kowakame to really make a play. They used to be in the conversation when the big free agents started shopping and now they NEVER are. They only look to guys coming off injury or bargain basement deals like Uggla. They have a great farm system but you can't win with that alone. Sometimes you have to leverage the farm system to trade and get the last pieces you need to finish the puzzle.

Dude you are a joke. Fielder Makes over 200 million. Kawakami on the books did not slow them on Fielder. They never had a shot. They will this year on a power hitter for 3b or left field due to all the money coming off the books. They never sign free agents like you are saying. They traded for both McGriff and Maddux. They didn't sign them as free agents. And by the way grienke is a 15-20 game winner. Who do you watch/pull for?

They didn't trade for Maddux- he was a free agent. They won't get Grienke and that is my whole point. This team is good enough to accomplish the Atlanta Braves' organizational goals which is to be just good enough to be profitable. They aren't going to be championship contender but they aren't going to be a cellar dweller either. Detriot pays Cabrera $21M and they pay Verlander $20M a year and they still went out and spent $200M on Fielder because they are in the game to win. Why should Detroit be able to outspend Atlanta?

I actually had my years crossed up on the Kawakame thing anyway- they had money tied up in him and the other pitcher whose name escapes me (also a bust) and that was the big reason they didn't make a play to trade for Adrian Gonzales when he was with the Padres. Definitely didn't come into play with Prince Fielder like you said.

As for who I watch\pull for that is somewhat complicated. I am a lifelong Red Sox fan but I find myself in the same situation that I'm in when it comes to the NFL. I am Cowboys fan but I can't stand Jerry Jones so I am no longer emotionally invested. Now I'm a Red Sox fan but I can't stand Bobby Valentine so I'm stuck there as well. I also do pull for the Braves for all things NL related. Who I watch is easy to answer- I don't watch MLB. I follow MLB in the sense that I read articles, box scores, watch highlights, etc. but I went on strike the last time MLB went on strike and I never really came back to watching. The slow play and the joke that the strike zone has become have kept me from watching. I actually spend more time looking at stats and standings than I do watching games anymore.
