The references to Maddux and McGriff doesn't show that I haven't watched regularly in 10 years (which by the way is a true statement)- it shows how long it has been since they have been in the game to win. Texiera was a strong move that I didn't mention because they didn't follow through to keep him. They could have been a player for Prince Fielder but they had too much money tied up in garbage salvage jobs like Kowakame to really make a play. They used to be in the conversation when the big free agents started shopping and now they NEVER are. They only look to guys coming off injury or bargain basement deals like Uggla. They have a great farm system but you can't win with that alone. Sometimes you have to leverage the farm system to trade and get the last pieces you need to finish the puzzle.

Oh, where to begin. Let's see

    1. They were paying Kawakami in '09, '10, '11. They were also paying him around 6mil a year. Not chump change, and hardly enough to keep them from making a play for Fielder.

    2. They did not, would not, and should not have gone after someone like Fielder with a potential all star long term guy like Freeman already in the organization.

    3. The Tiexera deal was a not a good move. It was a total failure. The Braves basically traded a foundation for two Rangers post season teams to get a guy who played 150 games. The Rangers got two of the best pitchers in their organization, their starting SS, and Jarred Saltalamachia who they then traded to Boston for two more prospects. Even if Tiexera signed it would have been a failure. He will never put up the same numbers he did in Arlington.

    4. The Braves paid out big for starting pitchers in Hampton, Lowe, and Hudson. Hudson has worked out. Lowe was 50/50, and Hampton was a total failure although the fault can't be laid on Braves Mgmt.

    5. Bigtime midyear deals aren't how you win in the MLB. At least not for the team getting bigtime players. More often than not they work out better for the team getting the prospects.

No, they weren't. And even if they were it wouldn't have backed up the point the OP was trying to make. TBS is not the national network of the Btaves anymore, the way WGN is for the Cubs and the YES Network is for the Yanks. TBS has a contract with MLB to broadcast games league wide. The Braves rarely if ever play on TBS. the Phils game you are referring to was on Fox, not FSN. It was quite obvious the OP didn't know what he was talking about to anyone who keeps up with the Braves.

Yes they were. I watched them play the Phils. You are right they rarely play on TBS, but you said they were not and that is wrong.
