Head Coach in football question

Has a ' coach' with no experience as either a coordinator or head coach, at any level, ever been hired as a head coach at a 'major' university as football coach before? I was just curious. the only one that comes to mind is Lane Kiffin, but I think he had coordinator experience.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.

Uh...look no further than the Taters.....Abo was a wide receivers coach. Dont believe he had any coordinator experience or head coach. May be wrong, but I doubt it.

Robbie Caldwell at Vanderbilt last year was the OLine coach. It was an unique situation with Johnson stepping down as head coach in the summer time., but it meets the criteria.

Joe Morrison was never an assistant, although he did hold 2 head coaching jobs before USC.

Lane Kiffin was HC of the Oakland Raiders and OC at Southern Cal for a year or two I think.

Ray Goff had never been a HC or coordinator when he replaced Dooley at UGA. It didn't work out too well.

Caldwell was the Asst Head Coach at the time Johnson retired. At least in Robbie's case...he had a boatload of experience.
The move by Terry Don at clemson with aBo is the craziest move I've ever seen. One thing for sure....that aBo is a great salesman....it's worked out incredibly well for him.
