My heart says yes. My head tells me with all the NCAA crap going on with the Football team and then if we hire Pearl, we mind as well build a house for the NCAA to live on campus because they would be ALL OVER US!!!

Love the concept but hate the suggestion. Pearl is toxic on 43 different levels, he is so toxic that glows in the dark. I too want a splash but not one that will kill us. Even if he was clean the NCAA would be all over us just to check in. Given their recent interest in us I want to stay as far away from them as possible. The only guy that would be worse would be Kelvin Sampson. If you want to go with a big name guy that has been out of it for a while go and talk to Bobby Knight. I would not be a huge fan but it would follow our other recipe for success and bring good media interest. I'm just not sure today's players would want to play for him.

My suggestion... Drop the cash and get Mark Few. That will never happen though.

Really? Who do you think we are? Pearl is a proven high level winner, and you want to turn your nose up at him, in favor of another mid major coach? Sorry, I'll take the chance and go with the proven SEC winner.

It isn't about liking him. It is about having a recent issue with the NCAA that we are still working through and how hiring a known repeat cheater and liar would impact us.

First, the perception from the NCAA would be that we aren't serious about compliance. That perception could create more scrutiny from the NCAA.

Second, he has already shown to be a cheater and also a liar. He's already demonstrated he has the propensity. What's to say he won't do it again.

Those are all good reasons not to hire him. Cheating in basketball would impact all sports.

I believe he is also under a five year show cause reprimand. Means he really can't coach in the next five years unless a case is made to hire him. Does anyone really believe USC is in a position at this point in time to make that argument to the NCAA? That would be an interesting conversation to watch!

We can't touch Bruce Pearl with a ten foot pole. We just cannot and the reasons should be obvious.

Really, is that your assumption? Calipari is not currently und a LOI or any type of concern is he? Wishful thinking on the part of haters is all that is.

IMO, the difference is that Pearl has been proven to be a liar. Calipari has not. That is a huge distinction with the NCAA. Just ask Jim Tressel.
