Horn Will come back

  • and he should

Team is real young and inexperienced

If we fire him, the new head coach won't be able to get his guys in the build his system for 2 more years since we don't have a lot scholarship room

Just stick with Horn for one more year, I think he will change it around next year

    Parth

  • Actually, Kentucky is younger and more inexperienced than we are.

team was more inexperienced last year.... we got worse with more experience. Why should we expect a drastic turn around next year?

There isn't a college coach in the country, at any level, that doesn't know basketball fundamentals, and how to teach them. Colleges don't hire people as coaches who are unfamiliar with the fundamentals of the sport they coach.

I'm really curious, bc I don't know.... do you think Mike Leach knows the fundamentals for a 3 technique DLman? Or the fundamentals for a kicker?

Do you know what young and inexperienced means ? You would be fun to debate if you made any sense whatsoever. Thank goodness that 95% of our fans realize that a change in the coaching staff has to be made. At leat some of the other 5% express themselves in a coherent manner.

    I'll leave you to yourself.

If we fire him, you honestly don't think the new guy can coach better? recruit better?

If we can't do better, might as well shut down the program and save the schollys for Title IX

Another loser mentality thread. Stand up and proclaim yourself, defeatist boy. You have no pride. Horn is a fraud. He is an arrogant ass and a loser.

I used to think things would get better but they aren't and they will not. The bottom line is Horn got a job like this because of one lucky run WKU made.

I agree that his arrogance and unwillingness to entertain the fans and media have been a detriment.

Ridiculous. Obviously you didn't watch the game. (or should I say the UK scrimmage) feel bad for our players that they have to go through this. They deserve a better coach.

    Really?

I thought it had more to do with this.......
Last 4 season records at WKU before coming to USC
    22-9 - NIT
    23-8 - NIT
    22-11
    29-7 - NCAA (Sweet 16)

Now riddle me this if you don't mind....

how does a guy coach one school to 96 wins in 4 yrs and he supposedly knows nothing about fundamentals of basketball?

how does a guy in one season win more NCAA games than USC has won in its history but he knows nothing about winning basketball?

Finally, you need to also explain to me and those of us who have not written the end of the Horn Era just yet, how the 3 year flavor "Greg Marshall" is any better? Afteral in his last four years at WSU his record does not compare to Horns four year record proir to coming to USC

    Marshall
    11-20
    17-17
    25-10 - NIT
    29-8 - NIT

Those numbers are more Odom-like (did not include this season as it is not completed)

Marshall is a good coach at the same level that Horn was a good coach. In fact, both teams played Alabama this season. Horn beat them and Marshall loss to them pukeface

My point is simple, we don't really know that anyone is any better than what we have right now. I see signs of improvement and I do think there is some talent on this team. D. Harris is a good example that he has been coached up by this staff so no I don't buy into Horn can't coach. This team is missing a true pure shooter. We look lost on offense because of it. SO Horn needs to find that stud pure shooter.

Lastly, did any one really not expect UK to come in here and beat the doors off us? Come on you are talking about a man and a program that builds it's team around 1 year waiting for the NBA draft talent. USC can't do that neither can any other SEC team. This is also the team that has held it's prior 3 SEC opponents (UT, LSU, UGa) to 50,44,44 points. I guess each of those schools need to fire their head coaches because they couldn't even manage more points than the "embarrassment of the SEC" to hear some talk. (wait all those schools have newer coaches than USC)

Yes, maybe not as will as a d-line coach or a kickers coach...but I'm sure he could coach fundamentals to any position. You can't be around football at that level without picking that stuff up.

I see Marshall steadily improving a bad situation and Horn taking over for Felton who already had the ship running...check Marshalls records at Winthrop.

Kentucky is good, but how many times will we allow a back door alley ooop in one game?

That is not true. To say that Horn doesn't know what he's doing is delusional at best. To say his gameplan didn't work against Kentucky is true, but who's gameplan has worked against Kentucky? To say that Kentucky is younger than us and try to compare is ignorant, really. Ky has five NBA players on the floor. USC cannot even get guys like that to listen to us. That is the challenge at USC. We have to take on projects who need time to develop. I don't know how to fix it, and neither do any of us. To beat up on the coach and the team is unproductive, and contributes to the challenge around our bball program. What coach would want to come here, with the way we talk about our coach?

If that's true, and Horn understands them, why have none of his teams at USC ever used proper defensive fundamentals.

So again, I don't doubt every coach knows fundamentals. Apparently, some a just better at TEACHING fundamentals.

Our defense is not our problem, trust me. Our defense is very good, look at the stats. We have held almost every team below their average. If you are going to rip the team, at least be fundamentally sound and rip them for something they are bad at. You have obviously been listening to Jimmy Dykes at the wrong time.

To try to compare the talent between usc and uk is ignorant. But to say they're younger than us is factual.

You may be right, but we're 289th nationally in rebounds per game, and we tend to allow more uncontested 3's than any team I've seen out there.

we are dead last in the league in fg% allowed... teams are hitting over 44% of their shots from the floor. That tells you what kind of defense we are playing.... it's not good. The dunk a thon that Kentucky had with us last night was a great illustration.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

If you are only looking at total points, you don't see half the story.

We were worst in the league in FG% defense going into last night. I only got worse.

If you really want to do your due diligence, I want you to look up the one stat that matters. Points per possession. Where we stand on that will let you know all you need to know.

Holding the ball for 25-30 seconds on offense and limiting the number of possessions the other team gets does not equate to good defense. Don't fool yourself.

Again, I like the character of the kids on this team. I respect Horn has a family. Before
we get too caught up with worrying about his feelings, ask about Ramon Galloway and Austin Steed's feelings. Ask about the fans feelings that had the tip off club. Ask about the chaplain's feelings who was told we no longer need his services. I wouldn't
say anything to Horn's family's face. I would hope they wouldn't read this site.

I hope like crazy a miracle happens and he
turns this ship around. Have seen no evidence it will happen yet.

Dont kid yourself about the defense though. It has been much improved this year and still is not very good.
