Horn has more tourny wins than Marshall

  • Not saying Marshall isn't a great coach. He's succeeded in poor conferences and had a couple of wins against big teams( so did Horn btw). He could be. Not enough data IMHO to say either way.

    I am saying he is a certifiable lunatic to think he's worth 2 mill per at 7+ years. GTFOOH.

    Winthrop is smallest college in basketball and Marshall took them to NCAA Tournament and beat Notre Dame. Horn beat a couple of nobody's in the tournament. Just except the fact Marshall is the next coach at The University Of South Carolina!

    what does smallest in basketball have to do with anything? They still can have just as many players on their roster, the size of the school doesn't mean a thing. Notre Dame sucks and has sucked for a LONG time and you have NO idea who the next coach will be!

  • I have been a member of this site and the original since JC started it. I told everybody back then Anthony Grant was not going to be our coach when Odom was fired.

    Well I'm going on record to state that Mike Kryzewski will not be our next head coach.. Come back next week so I can say "I told you so," and be appropriately deemed an insider.

  • Here's the irony: about a week ago the prevailing theory around here was "don't screw this up Hyman. Pay Marshall whatever he wants. He's the only choice. Don't be cheap Hyman!!".
    Then he loses to VCU and the info starts to leak out the he in fact does want a big number with a nice guarantee. Shouldn't be an issue since the mantra was "Get it done no matter what Eric!".
    Then, when the deal doesn't get done in 7 minutes AND we all of sudden get a new, bigger name who is MAYBE on the other line Marshall is now just nuts to ask for that and he's not that great anyway. I'd bet if we removed Frank Martins name from the list and we were left with Groce, Amaker, Capel and Smith we'd be in near meltdown mode as to why we haven't written the check yet!!! The herd moves to and fro with amazing swiftness.

    Using your logic one could say Martin has won with Bob Huggins players. Don't get me wrong I would be very happy with Martin but Marshall is certainly a great Coach and the best fit.

    Anyone w/ ADD (myself and the majority of this board) love shiny new things. Frank Martin is the shiny new thing. I guarantee if WG writes a post that Shaka Smart is interested in the job he would become the immediate favorite.

    Don't believe everything you read on a message board. He would come cheaper to USC and from what I am hearing USC has not even negotiated a figure with Marshall's Agent so I think all these figures we are hearing are all bs.

    The problem with Marshall is the length of the deal. He wants like 6 plus years if not more. I think we are only willing to give five. Which is how it should be IMO.

  • Marshall would coach circles around Horn. Anyone that says Wichita State wouldn't beat us by 25 or more this year is kidding themselves.

    The biggest difference between Horn and Marshall: Horn talked about building programs. Marshall has actually built programs at 2 different schools.
