How does Clemtech continue to recruit at such a high level?

  • They brought watkins and bellamy for a unofficial visit in the summer when no one is around and the deal is made with the player and sometimes the high school coach. After one unofficial visit to clemson both these kids committed to clemson on the visit with offers from every big time program. They stayed committed to clemson after a 6-7 season and a embarrasing bowl loss to usf and never visited any other school. Makes you wonder how they are doing it but if the kid keeps his mouth shut and is given small sums of cash while he is at school and receives the big payout after he leaves, it is hard to trace cash. They also have two kids committed this year travis blanks and zac brooks that were brought in this summer and committed on the unofficial visits. I believe tommy bowden would not outright cheat like dabo and this is why terry don loves dabo. Dabo was also spillers recruiter and I believe he got payed because clemson beat championship programs like so.cal and fla for him. Dabo was on Mike Dubose's staff when they offered albert means 200k to come to bama. I believe they target certain players and pay them but there has not been any proof and it has helped them big time. Clemson will do anything to keep the upper hand on us.

  • It's quiet simple. Money and all the women they would like. Police are not going to bother them. And no newspaer is going to look hard at them. All the Clemson beat writers would never dig deep for anything. Like abortions, killing a coach, beating women, or beating students it's a free reign with money and girls. The brothers love it...

    1. They recruit very, very hard and start early. Next time we offer an out of state kid notice he already has a Clempson offer. They offer every kid in the southeast as freshmen and sophomores. This is the only place I will give them credit. They work their tails off, probably harder than any staff in the ACC or SEC. Being the first to offer automatically gets them in the top 3 with most kids (for some reason).

    2. They smother recruits with BS. They tell them exactly what they want to hear and some of them are dumb enough to believe it. How many have we seen go up there on visits and unexpectedly commit? They put them in a corner and tell them if they're having such a good time why don't they commit? Then when they get home and think about it Dabo gives them the ol, "you're a man of your word, aren't you." Tony Steward said something on signing day like, "it's a great day and I've always wanted to play at Florida State. I can't believe I'm going to Clempson." Remember last year Dabo said, "love ya Clowney" when he went on his official there? Could you imagine ANY OTHER HEAD COACH saying that? That's some dumb gay stuff and it works with some kids who like to be told how great they are and need that attention. Notice guys like Lattimore, Clowney, Jeffery, and Shaq Roland barely gave Clempson a sniff. Head cases like Lateek Townsend eat it up. That's why you see Dabo talk them up in the media so much. He knows their fragile egos can't handle negativity. If Spurrier took over for Dabo at Clempson next season half the team would quit and the other half would be talking to a psychiatrist once a week.

    3. I don't know if they're truly cheating or not, but I find it somewhat odd that most of their top flight players are coming from out of state. Their better instate guys are from the upstate or places with a-hole Tater alumni high school coaches like Bamberg. It seems many of the top instate guys don't really even consider them or some are the 3 star types we passed on, especially in the 2011 & 2012 recruiting classes. I can see why an SC kid might choose Clempson over Carolina. I can't see how a kid from 700 miles away could choose Clempson over Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Auburn, or Alabama. I'm pretty sure these "better programs" are closer to Fort Myers than Clempson. Tony Steward's dream was FSU and he went to Clempson? I don't care how much BS Dabo spews. When a kid has his dream right there in front of him and he passes on it for 6-7 and a coach on the hot seat something is a little fishy.

  • I can tell you with 100% certainty there have been some wrongful acts with the Leamon kid from Woodruff. I will also say this if you currently look at both teams recruiting and you go by stars which most of you do, we have eight 4star players to their seven and one of them is guaranteed juco. We just need to continue doing what we are doing and throw everything we got at them come Nov. 26th.

  • First of all, I'm sick of hearing about the $$$ Clemson is supposedly paying. If you know it to be true, prove it or bring something real to the discussion. Otherwise, you just look ridiculous and make all Gamecock fans look the same with your accusations.

    Now the truth about why Clemson gets the recruits they do. Dabo is the best recruiter around. THE BEST. I'm not afraid to say it. He also has a staff of very good recruiters. They would recruit well at Wake Forest. They're that good.

    Here's the other truth. Dabo can't coach. I think he finally realizes that and has gotten other coaches to handle it for him. I think his headphones aren't turned on when he's on the sidelines. He just talks into them for show for the cameras. But players win and Clemson will be successful as long as Dabo recruits and coaches coach. It's not that complicated.

    Former players are selling the fact of what you can get away with anything in that town. "It's hard to get in trouble at Clemson." Look at the former athletes that have issues but never had one problem in Pickens. Do you think alcohol consumed by a SR ball player would have led to his dismisal. Beating a woman with a towel rod was the iceing on the cake in showing what a kid can get away with up there.

    They have kids leaving school with a 3.0 GPA scoring a 12 on the wl test.

    They can get away with anything up there and the players make sure the recruite know this.

    Finally, CU would have a tough time winning less than 8 games a season in their conference. This is a selling point and works well for CU. They should be winning some ACC titles more than once every 20 years. How they have managed not to win one title in the ACC is remarkable.

    This is a big part. Players are well cared for. Want a bottle of liquor? Go to the package store, pick one out and waive to the store owner as you leave without paying. Bored, don't want to go to class on a spring day? Snag some jetskis from your local Lake Hartwell booster and have a ball. Get into trouble? Nah, the police have your back. They'll call coach to come pick you up. Drug tests are handled in house, so smoke all you want. Miss your baby's momma? A local booster has a job and a lake house for rent.

    Nothing but Clemson fans as far as the eye can see. No one will say a word. $100 handshakes and steak dinner for everyone.

    So we do cheat for in-state kids or we don't cheat for the in states....bc I always wonder why we get drilled for in states....

    Lattimore/Jeffrey/Clowney/Dukes/Gilmore/Holloman ect...and usually hear we can't cheat in-state bc SOS will turn us in. But I guess you're saying we do in state.

    There is nothing good at Clemson....the perks and cheating Clemson players recieve is the only reason they get any top players. I just can't believe they have fans since there's nothing positive about Clemson itself.

    But FSU won 2 MNC's from 1992-2000....and never finished outside the Top 5. Multiple years in top 3. So bashing us for not winning the conference during that stretch is pointless.

    But don't worry five-stars' mommas, Dabo will still take your son with him to church every Sunday, just like Tammy did.

    This is reality, though most will continue to say it is because they cheat. Dabo is probably as good as it gets as a head coach recruiter. He finally was forced to fire his buddies off the team and he just flat out got lucky with hiring Chad Morris. I don't think Morris is there after this year as a mid level school that can pay 1 million a year will come calling.

    Meh, gets old with you. Clemson has good facilities, some tradition, and has an attractive campus. They also leverage their rural setting well, keeping many things internal that would not be possible in Columbia, Athens, Raleigh, etc. Many of the things in my previous post are documented. If it takes a few weeks or more for the world to find out about a player beating a girl with a shower rod WTF else is going on up there? Defies logic, and the way you continue to argue it is somewhat insulting.

How many of you who don't believe clemmons boosters pay players money, knew they were paying in late 70s before ncaa busted their arse ? I bet not a single person here could prove they were paying money then. In fact, if you were alive then I am sure you would have been asking the same ole questions about proof. I can't prove OJ is a murder and 12 people who heard all the evidence said he didn't do it but I KNOW he killed her and their are lots of other people who do things that can't be proven by pretty good prosecutors much less an inept and corrupt org like ncaas.

    Woodrow St is a fan and if he has never seen a booster pay a player, then he is either blind or never been to a home game. I have been to 3 cu/usc and 1 fsu game in clemmons and watched players get paid all every time.

    Of course they also have a great recruiter, a beautiful campus, a hill, a rock and a mnc they bought and paid for so there are others reasons for players to go there.

    by this logic you're stating that clemson fans cannot bash USC for their lack of success in the SEC during our entire tenure as SEC members because from 1992 we have won 9 MNC's and have had more teams finish in the top 10 than possibly any other conference in history in that time span as well.

    Typical clemPson post -- doesnt look at facts and when they do, it's interpreted how they want. You probably still count your 1 MNC as legit, even after the NCAA dropped the hammer...for gods sake, you were TV banned. If it was today the MNC would be stripped.
