Hyman officially resigns USC post

University of South Carolina president Harris Pastides has accepted the resignation of athletics director Eric Hyman, it was announced today.

  • One upside to this.

He won't have to leave the room next year, when they discuss which national seed our baseball team will be, during the selection process.

Hopefully he'll use his "fond memories" to make sure we are done well, during that process.

  • Ok who replaces him,win anyway.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

    what a bitch

You are just way too cute!!!!!

  • Ray Tanner should be given the right of first refusal. If he wants to continue coaching baseball that's great. If he wants the job then we would be foolish not to give it to him.

    ShawnC

  • Nah.. a bitch is having TDP as your AD.

Not a bitch for Carolina, though. We are enjoying all of his decisions.

Now go back and watch your powerhouse program whip up on Virginia Tech, or another ACC team. Just remember not to watch a recent Carolina match-up, or any football match-up with a Big East team.

  • The one part of the article I don't understand is the hiring of successful coaches. Dawn Staley is the only one that comes to mind? Help

Beverly Smith and the volleyball coach (?)

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • Elliot, Mangus, Whammy, Martin, and Meyers. They don't have to be head coaches to count.

How does Hyman get as much or more credit for hiring Elliot, Mangus and Meyers than Spurrier and Tanner?

You can count Chad Holbrook, who is the premiere assistant coach in baseball, and I cannot think of an assistant that is as coveted in all of sports.

But, Tanner gets the credit for Holbrook and Meyers, and Spurrier gets the credit for Elliot, Mangus, Ward, and Lawing. Lets get serious for a minute. Everyone was crazy mad at Hyman because we lost some of the ones we did because he would not award multi-year deals. We had to have 11 coordinators on our team so Spurrier could get a decent deal for those guys.

I'm sure as AD Hyman has some input on who gets hired as assistant coaches, and should get credit for that. I did not say, all or more credit than head coaches or equal credit as head coaches, they were hired during his tenure it counts in his favor. That is all
