No meltdown for me. There will be a LOT more interest in this job than many on this board believe. The Carolina job is an excellent job. Just wait and see. Hyman sold us short the first time with Horn. I bet he gets it right this time around....at least he BETTER get it right.

If Hyman is willing to pay what it takes to hire a quality coach we shouldn't have to worry about any one candidate turning us down.

I'm looking for coaches that have built programs. Marshall is not the only one to do that, though he is my first choice. Frank Martin I think would be next for me. After that, not sure where I would turn...

Who says he gets an offer? Even though he has a lot of support from internet posters, is there any reason to believe he will be the top choice?

I don't even think Marshall will be in the top 3. I do think he'll get an interview. But won't be in the running. Just a hunch.
I'm with CockFather. I think this is a very good job for some really good candidates.

The thing about Marshall is he has so many more connections in the area than anyone we have hired since McGuire. Everyone we have hired since then has had to build relationships in the area. whereas. GM has relationships. Throughout the southeast. If not GM then go after a coach who has strong relationships with HS coaches in large Metropolitan areas , ala Frank McGuire, because that is where the players are.

To answer your question it will be a HUGE MELTDOWN on this board if he turns us down. He is an excellent coach and would be a great hire (in my opinion).......This job is a LOT HARDER to fill than most want to admit. We have a reputation of looking for that diamond-in-the-rough coach and playing in the SEC will not allow that to happen. This is not a very forgiving conference with regards to losses......I for one believe that this is not a very attractive job and very few up-and-comers would want the headache that has been created here. It will take MONEY to get the right person for this job and in my opinion it will take a very respected coach / recruiter to get it done here. Not saying it can't be done but just harder than most care to admit.....

There is much reason to believe he will be the top choice. He is a local guy with tremendous success who is a hot name. It's now or never.

This is not a good basketball job. This is a stepping stone job for most coaches..If Marshall turns it down; get the discount rate for Bruce Pearl and have him try to build something..No way Frank Martin takes this job...Maybe Ammaker or Steve Robinson...

I agree. Marshall coached at Winthrop for years - He already knows high school and AAU coaches in this state, would be a huge advantage.

Many of you forget that DH was NOT Eh's first (or even) second choice....
And as for the job, ANY job that can potentially pay you 2mil per year is an EXCELLENT job in my book
