I can't believe we turned down Tajh Boyd for Andrew Clifford

    No, way. If you put Dylan Thompson in that quick fire offense at phlegmson, against ACC competition, I bet Dylan would have better numbers than Tasha. Dylan is as good of a runner as Tasha also. Tasha's athleticism is not in the same universe as Connor's. I have not been impressed with Tasha as an athlete. Tasha would in no way even challenge Shaw for the job. It is very difficult trying to be a passing team in the SEC, only one team has been able to do it, arky. And arky's OL was the best we played against.

    No doubt, Clifford was a miss. Maybe there were ulterior motives to signing Andy. I agree with BigAl in that he was a head-scratcher.

  • Are you serious? Boyd has no ability to read defenses, point blank! Clemson's offense consists of about 15-20 plays ran out of a gazillion formations, that's all it is. The defenses in the ACC were too stupid to realize that, particularly Va. Tech. He takes a 3 step or 5 step drop, simply puts the ball in the air and lets a guy a make a play, or throws the piss poor quick screen to the WR or RB. Spurrier's system is timing routes, throwing the ball to a spot, but understanding what spot is going to be open depending on what the defense is doing scheme wise. There's probably a much better way of explaining it than what I just did, but you get my point, if Boyd has to think, he sucks and that is why his glory days will be playing for those clowns in the upstate, he will get to the NFL as a free agent, be told he sucks and that he actually has to work if he ever wants to see the light of day and he will fold like a cheap tent. Clemson's players are treated like superstars and their coaches act as fans towards them versus being their coach and that reveals itself very clearly when they actually play someone worth 2 cents.

  • First off, he busted his ACL in high school, and I don't think our coaches wanted anything to do with that. Second, he had a handler, and our coaches again didn't want anything to do with that.

    If I remember the situation Boyd had a "handler" that wanted to be VERY involved in Tajh's recruitment. He committed to WVU (I think) and then to Tenn (again going off memory) and everywhere this person was ALL over it. I read something that definitely made me think it was almost a Cecil Newton situation and SOS and staff didn't want anything remotely close to that kind of stuff. Just what I remember so apologize if not 100% correct. Doesn't matter to me at all now because of Shaw, McEvoy and Nosovitch and soon to be Mitch. Go Cocks!

    you are right and some more was he had ties to willie lyles at one time and was committed also at one point to va. tech and ohio state, tenn. oreg. and at the last minute he ends up at pickens tech. go figure! and no one even asks a question even when willie lyles is investigated with oreg. their day is coming, and when it hits it will not be pretty. stay tuned!
