I don't understand the "if it wasn't for Lattimore" crowd...

  • I've read several times that if it wasn't for Lattimore, we would've lost, or we'd be 0-3. I was on the coaching staff for a team that won a high school state championship and people said, if you didn't have those two great pitchers, you wouldn't have won. Lattimore is a huge part of who we are, and he's doing exactly what he was recruited to do. If it wasn't him, there would be someone else back there carrying the luggage all night long. However, we have him and as a result, we are going to gameplan as such. He's a beast and we're gonna keep giving it to him until you stop him, then we're gonna give it to him again. I would love to see more balance overall, and even some other backs getting involved, but last night our balance was good - 254 rushing and 204 passing ain't bad for a very limited number of possessions. I understand that Latt gets hurt, we might be in trouble, but that is often the case with a superstar on a good team.

  • Agreed, I'm beginning to think there are more pretend fans on here than I thought.

Any team without their superstar is in trouble. Auburn 2010 without Newton, Stanford without Luck, Boise without Moore, etc...

Lattimore is a stud. Not even close who the MVP is so far.

Wonder who our 2nd back will be. Wilds or Ellington is my guess.

  • I hear this 5 times per day from taters. One posted it on Facebook last night during our game. I reminded him about Ellington going down last year.

  • I don't get it either. Maybe we would be 0-3 without him, but who the heck cares?? We are 3-0 WITH him because he signed with the Gamecocks, and is on our team and is a stud. I am happy we have him and hope that next week we are 4-0 and he has another 150+ yard game with multiple touchdowns.

I Garcia can calm down and play off of Latts success, we will be hard to handle. Heck, we've yet to play anything close to a good game and we are 3-0 with a conference win.

  • We shouldn't depend on one player so heavily like we do with Marcus. He's a great player no question about it, but he needs help and can't be expected to do it all. He gets injured and the season is basically down the tubes, and it shouldn't be that way.

I won't argue that with you Andy, but the "If it weren't for Lattimore, we wouldn't have won" talk is bothersome. We do have him. He is on our team and not Auburns. Bama leaned on their guy two years ago a lot. We are 3-0 having not played anywhere near as good as I think this team can play. If we have to lean on Lattimore until the others get up to speed, then so be it.

  • Agreed. If it wasn't for the best player on the field, a lot of games would turn out different.

Thanks to Lattimore and every other player on this team, we are 3-0!!!

What about Melvin Ingram or Anotonio Allen? Or Alshon Jeffrey? They have nothing to do with it?

What would the game plan be like if he had never signed? Who knows.

Enjoy being 3-0, because I have seen 0-3 and it sucked alot worse than this.

  • If you got a stud like Lattimore Ride him

Gamecocks will be 6-0 soon and there is no telling how many yards the young man will have. He is as good as Gamecocks have ever had.......well maybe with the exception of a man named George.

If it weren't for Tebow, Florida would have lost a lot of games. If it weren't for Cam Newton, Auburn wouldn't have even gone to a bowl. If it weren't for Andrew Luck, Stanford would be awful. That's the thing about Heisman caliber players - they win ballgames.

Why is this apparently upsetting to you? Instead of complaining that he is winning games for us, you should be celebrating our best offensive player since George Rogers.

I think he was correcting my grammar, rather than making a football point. Grammatical error conceded.
