I don't usually like to post much about Clemson, but dang...

  • they sure remind me a lot of us during the Brad Scott era. Good skill position guys, nothing on the LOS, 4 and 5 star recruits not panning out due to off the field things, blaming the defensive coordinator by the fans, a head coach who talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk, etc, etc.

Think about how often that used to happen to us; I'm sure every longtime Gamecock fan has a couple of names that spring immediately to mind.

Fact is, some kids get those lofty rankings based purely on physical ability, but they lack the mental toughness to survive in major college football. What has changed at Carolina is that now we are getting the true blue-chippers, the Marcus Lattimores and Alshon Jeffrys, who have not only talent, but also high character, self-discipline and work ethic.

  • Me personally...line play and character kids. I hope we learned our lesson is skimping on those two things.

  • They also beat bad teams and get hammered in the big games...a Brad Scott tradition at least until he lost 10 straight. .

I am pretty sure Tanneyhill and Anthony Wright were two. Zola Davis I am pretty sure was a big time recruit.

I was going to ask the same thing. I am not sure there were a lot of places that ranked guys back then. We did have some good skill position guys under Scott.

Isn't Brad basically their recruiting coordinator, and hasn't he been for a long time?

I don't want to bash our kids naming names, but we were always in the top 15 or 20 in recruiting. Many of the kids never made it in. Some made it in and just weren't what they were hyped to be. Some were decent players like Ben Washington and Ron Nealy but just not what they were hyped to be. There, I named a couple of names and feel terrible about it, because these kids gave their all for USC.

  • They have been to the ACC Championship game twice under Dabo. They won it last year remember. How is that not walking the walk? I hate Clemson as much as anybody, but he is getting them to the championship games.

Brian Scott and Jermale Kelly were ranked as #1 WRs in the nation by some publications.

I've said that for the past 3-4 years. We used to be the finesse, gimmicky team with "skill" players and no OL and DL. CU was the smash mouth team that dominated the line of scrimmage. We've essentially switched personas and philosophies.

Because NO CU fans are happy with their current state of affairs.
