I have some questions ...

  • 1. I have noticed more coaches (especially opposing ones) standing on the field during the actual plays. It's not just once or twice, it's basically pitch a tent and stay there. Navy's coach, Ken Niumatalolo, seemed to be 2-3 yards on the gridiron each offensive play. Gene Chizik, Gus Malzahn, Ted Roof, and Trooper Taylor were consistently 5 yards on the field. How is this possible and whatever happened to the sideline warning in these instances?

    2. Steve Spurrier seems to be distancing himself from his assistants on the sideline. GA Mangus and Sean Elliott are literally at the other end of the sideline from wherever Spurrier stands. Is there any communication amongst the three offensive coaches?

    3. What has happened to the updated statistics on the "strip message boards" at Williams-Brice Stadium? To my knowledge, not even regular updates of other college football games are being posted. Maybe they are being flashed up there but I don't ever see them except for halftime.

    4. I understand the scenario with the Wounded Warrior Project uniforms, but USC had a 6-1 record a year ago while wearing a majority of time the garnet jerseys (and I think garnet pants). Any chance we'll see more of that combo against Kentucky, Florida, The Citadel, and Clemson? I am all for wearing a black scheme against the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Miss. State, etc., since they incorporate some shade of "red", but really hope the "good luck" garnet returns at Williams-Brice Stadium.

I still think South Carolina has the inside track to the SEC East Division title and for me that is goal #1 for this year's team ... From there, it's a one-off matchup at the Georgia Dome vs. either Alabama or LSU in December ... Next four weeks are huge for the East race:

FL (2-1) - @ LSU, @ Auburn, Open, vs. Georgia
GA (2-1) - @ Tennessee, @ Vanderbilt, Open, vs. Florida
SC (2-1) - Kentucky, @ Miss. State, Open, @ Tennessee
TN (0-1) - Georgia, LSU, @ Alabama, South Carolina

Personally, I think the following records will be compiled: FL (1-2 or 2-1); GA (1-2 or 2-1); SC (3-0 or 2-1); TN (0-4, 1-3, or 2-2).

    Look forward to your comments!

  • they never show the stats any more - the entire navy game I watched for them and they went through them ONCE at halftime and that was it.

  • Think it is becoming like the coaches standing outside the coaching box in baseball. It is the cool thing to do.cool

  • Hey Bud...

Me and my buds (you no) talk about all the Coaches on the field...I have no answer does not happen other places

I think Spurrier goes away to hear Jr. maybe he should join him in the box and let Mangus/Elliott call plays.

A follow up question.....does anyone really think a qb change will matter with the playcalling and confusion on O

I've seen a lot of this lately it seems... not just at our place. And I can't remember the last sideline warning given in any game I've watched.

  • One of our coaches was on the field about 5 yds Saturday during entire plays being run. Its not just the opponents.

That is my worry. I am positive Ace did not know the play on the one interception. I could tell right before the play he was making a motion the meant "huh?".

When SOS said there would be changes, my hopes were for 1. QB change and 2. a change in the way we call plays and communicate them to the offense. Huddle, wristbands with numbers, anything other than what we are doing now.

  • They show the stats.
Spurrier has often stayed out on the end of the line. This is nothing new. Spurrier has this new fangled thing called a RADIO that we use now Kubby.
Uniforms don't mean anything. The end of the program is at hand Kubby. Do you not know that?

Hope this helps you understand the games better bud.

  • He does often stand behind the other teams defense off by himself but when you lose a game it becomes an issue apparently. Nothing new other than the criticism, which I am sure he does not care about.

  • Since South Carolina ended its 1-21 span in 2000 with the first of seven bowl seasons, the Gamecocks are 44-47 (.484) overall in 91 SEC games ... That mark ranks 7th in the conference through the first 5 weeks of the 2011 season:

    >.500 (2011)
    67-24, .736, Florida
    63-27, .700, LSU
    62-28, .689, Auburn - L
    60-31, .659, Georgia - W
    54-35, .607, Tennessee
    53-37, .589, Alabama

    <.499 (2011)
    44-47, .484, SOUTH CAROLINA
    43-46, .483, Arkansas
    34-56, .378, Ole Miss
    24-67, .264, Miss. State
    23-67, .256, Kentucky
    15-75, .167, Vanderbilt - W

Steve Spurrier is 25-26 in 51 SEC games since 2005 at South Carolina.

Following is the Gamecocks' record vs. SEC foes since 2000:

    5-0 Miss. State
    10-1 Kentucky
    10-2 Vanderbilt
    3-3 Alabama
    2-2 Ole Miss
    5-7 Georgia
    4-7 Arkansas
    3-8 Tennessee
    2-9 Florida
    0-4 Auburn
    0-4 LSU

    SEC Champions: 3 Florida, 3 LSU, 2 Georgia, 2 Auburn, 1 Alabama
    SEC Runner-Up: 3 Tennessee, 2 Arkansas, 1 Alabama, 1 Auburn, 1 Florida, 1 Georgia, 1 LSU, 1 South Carolina

-UGA needs to lose to UT and UF to make our path easier

    - If that happens the East likely comes down to our game with UF, whether we come into it 5-2 or 4-3. (We have to play better than we have to even go 4-3 and anticipate we will)

first things first lets take care of UK, then pull like hell for UT(gulp) at 3:30
