There is a parent in our school community that is constantly trashing our school in any outlet he can find. This time, he is telling blatant lies about me... and mudrucking our staff in a very unfair way. I mean...our school didn't get an A on our report card by accident. I cannot lash out personally, but maybe you could help me give this guy a hard time. Keep this in mind, he's been fired from multiple schools (once for having porn on his work computer) and has been unemployed for years.

I usually fight these battles by contacting someone I know of influence, such as a board of education superintendent or a local council member or state senator and that usually gets things done so that I don't get my hands dirty. If you need for me to email him some of my epic fail posts I would be glad to help.

My advice as an educator is to let it go. He has to fart in in the wind to cover up his shortcomings. He will go away just as quickly as that fart will dissipate. Being in education means being under fire from the public, but getting up and getting back at it. One irate parent or even 200 will change the fact that you make a difference in the lives of a profound number of youngsters. Choose to live with that fact and your teaching career will be so much easier.

You will experience a lot more of these instances. My advice is to document each dealing with said parent and whatever you do choose words very wisely in emails. You should only talk with this douche on the phone, emails can be killers for teachers of bad parents.
