I wonder if Garcia is sorry he didn't transfer now...

Don`t lose your team the first week. Garica is the leader of the team.

Agree with this. One of my main concerns.

a - bc he's the true soph and Garcia is the 5th year senior
b - Shon Carson had a better statistical fall tham Lattimore
c - you didn't have enought faith in Shaw to allow him ample PT at the end of last year

Shaw has been here two years and I'm pretty sure he's at least participated in the same number of spring camps as the fifth year starter you're taking about. Garcia is a good kid. None of the stuff he did warrants anything more than the punishment that was meted out. However, he doesn't deserve anything more than a fair shot just because he's a fifth year senior.

And stop with the Shon Carson had a better fall camp than Lattimore nonsense. I understand you think it's a great counterargument, but it's not. It's stupid.

I think you left out a few things.

If all things were equal in the fall, why shouldn't Shaw start?

Because he has never done anything in a real football game. He played Garcia to a draw in two hand touch.

Answer this question please, as I would really like to know why one should and one shouldn't. Should a heisman winning QB, National Championship winning coach, Heisman QB coach...not be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to coaching decisions on QBs?

you going to answer this? I really want to know why Garcia should get the benefit of the doubt but not Spurrier?

    You can't be serious?

    A. Lattimore wasn't competing for his job. B. He rarely participated in any scrimmages C. Is it not possible Shaw has improved between last November and today?

When did this site start gathering up the half-wits from TOS.

    He is serious

    Apparently it wasn't a draw

  • I think Spurrier is fed up with Garcia bc, after 5 years he can't make all the throws, doesn't go through the progressions, and doesn't know the playbook as well as Shaw.

Oh, and if you think Garcia is the leader of this team, you need to look up the definition of the word "leader".

Well the practice isn't going to change, and you certainly don't know what you got to trot him out there. They weren't throwing against air.

Your list is flawed! Carson did have better numbers statistically, but he wasn't going head-to-head with Latt for a starting position. The "open" competition was announced before the pre-season started so it wasn't and isn't a surprise to the qb's or the team. Our fans seem to have the problem. I can guarantee you that there isn't anyone on the team sitting around rocking back and forth and babbling like an idiot "oh my god, we're doomed, oh my god we're doomed!" They are going to line up and play! Also, this year's starter has absolutely zero to do with who played last year.

  • I read the hype. I believed the press that Garcia was doing what it took to be a leader. So I went to one of the Sat scrimmages...to see it in person and what I saw was one QB laughing joking around and half ass waring up and the other had " the eye of the tiger"...Conner Shaw is all business ladies and gentlemen. Spurrier relates to his approach and likes the way he approaches the game. My question to each of you is if this team was your business... Would you stake the company on a fly by the seat of your pants rebel or would you prefer a steady- grounded hungry young man? Spurrier cannot go wrong here folks.

Garcia made his bed. I think he will start soon but he is in this spot bc of himself. Four years of about 80% dedication caught up to him.

  • I dont now about if he should have transfered....but I can understand the drinking. It is just one more brick in the wall for Garcia's time here at USC.

    It's a wall he built

  • I understand Spurrier knows more about football...etc, etc. With that being said, I believe most of us have played sports and see both sides. I've seen SG first hand for multiple seasons show his leadership on the field. I just dont see how you could make that call based on camp stats. SG has proven himself on the field ,and based on the inside reports, off the field as well as of late. He may not be the best "practice" player but he makes me feel confident when he's in the game. If Spurrier wants both to play...fine...but give your 5th year senior the start.

So what happens when both Shaw and Garcia have decent games? I can spell QB controversy all season. Believe me, Im not trying to be "debbie downer" or panic....all Im saying is let the 5th year senior start....

You know Ole Miss would have taken him. No doubt he would have found a decent home.
