If Shamier steps up, we could have the most explosive set of Wrs

  • in the country. B Wilds will hold down the ground. OL gets better. Young WRs step up and Clowney and crew take care of the rest.

The reason I exclude Shamier is bc his hands are as good as Alshons. Bruce Damier Shamier and Kwinton could be deadly.

And Jerrell...and Clemson thought the WVU beatdown was bad.....

No wonder Spurrier wants to hang around here for awhile

  • Our leading returning receiver caught 40 passes for 600 yards. Damier caught 14 passes last year. 14. Fourteen. Shamier Jeffery and Kwinton Smith have zero career catches combined. This is the group of receivers you're touting as potentially being the most explosive in the country. It's late, maybe you should go to bed, champ.

He is talking about potential. There is no debating whether or not we have talent at WR. The class we signed last year was one of the top two or three in the country for WR. Damiere, Shamiere, KJ, Bruce, and Nick absolutely do have potential, and I don't see the problem in being excited about their potential.

It baffles me when people get mad about somebody getting excited about the future, even though we all know it is hard to predict.

  • I could see the potential. I also saw the potential in 2011 when we had Alshon, Lattimore, Garcia, and Ellington all here and we were not as dominant as I had thought we would be. I'm gonna take a wait and see approach with our offense from now on. I do appreciate the enthusiasm though, it is exciting to think about. biggrin

    Another scenario:
    M. Davis will emerge as #1 RB; I share everyone's support of Wilds but Davis is better.....

I hope to God that the OLine gets better, if not develope into the dominate part of the offense....we've stocked the shelves with talent and it's time to see it

Jones and Ellington would be the best WRs on the team if we took the field today...we really need one or two of the young guys to step up

TE with K Smith, Rory and the rest of them are the most talented group on the O; but they were last year too and we didn't use them much for some reason

I hope you're right about the D; I suspect that the O will be in process for a while; if the D develops we could be good...we'll find out in Athens

  • Wilds will lead the team in touchdowns. I have a feeling that when we get inside the 15, he's going to be either getting fed or catching it out of the backfield.

Maybe not all of us should think that way but atleast Spurrier does. You can be an optimist and realist at the same time....Bruce is our only proven consistent gametime WR. If you believe the words "other receivers need to step up" then you are along the same line of thought. Thats not saying our other guys dont have the ability to take over it just says they have to prove it

  • honestly....we wont have the most explosive wr's in the state, much less the country. They'll be good, not great. I think the TE's will be great though.

I can agree. Info that has been shared by our insiders gives me optimism. Bruce has proved his worth. Damiere, although he had some untimely drops has proved he can be a deep threat. If Kwinton played instead of DL last year, our production would have been much better. Jerell made a few plays last year as well. While Shamiere is unproven as well, if all this talk ab him turning on the switch is true our WRs will be MUCH improved and you tell me why they wont be explosive. Im not even adding Shaq to this equation

  • I understand being hesitant in what kind of team we will have next year but guys come on the team is there...kwinton smith almost burned his RS mid season...which means two things...One: he knows the playbook...and two: he's a baller or he wouldn't be in consideration for pretty much blowing an entire year of eligibility...shamier knows the system...ok his effort wasn't there but the kid was on campus wasn't he? the kid was in practice/weight room...he's been there for almost three years now and he's finally hungry...we got two safetys with quality PT in williams and gurly...Diggs at spur stepping up to be a leader on D...Elder showing out in the weight room...a veteran Oline with something to proove and not to mention the stable of YOUNG running backs we have all of which could start anywhere in the SEC...then you have Shaw THE BEST QB for our system and Dylan thompson who's like a whole different team to prepare for...and last but not least our All american D line...Darius English probably would have beat out D taylor for the starting spot last year and now he gets a chance so does sutton...top this off with a favorable schedule and its another 10 or 11 win season again...maybe even better and i don't see many complaining about a season like that so lets sit back and enjoy......

sorry for typos I'm not reviewing this post on my tiny phone lol

  • Bruce has shown flashes of being able to our #1. We had this same question going into last season and our wrs produced....Bruce has shown he can play, Nick Jones can be dependable in the slot...we really just need one guy out of the Shamir/Roland/Smith/Byrd camp to step and solidify the group.

I'm not saying they will be all world but Bruce is def explosive...we could have a very solid corps.

Its not about someone saying our receivers have potential. Of course they do. It is embarrassing to hear a fellow Gamecock say that we may have the "most explosive group of receivers in the country." ... IN THE COUNTRY. That is just not going to happen. We will be lucky for a single guy to break 1000 yards. If we had be the best group in the country we would have at the very least 2 1000 yard receivers. When my drunk friends say things like that in front of Clemson/Georgia/Florida etc. fans I cringe and apologize on behalf of Gamecock Nation bc I dont want anyone thinking that we are all that delusional.

cmon dude. dont be a closet gamecock fan who only comes out when we do good. look at our team. who has a better tight end combo than buster and jerell. we are in the top 10 for a reason and have back to back 11 win seasons for a reason. If Ace had come back would you say we would? If you say no, tell me who has a better set and lets compare.
