I'm not sold on MJD. I thought about Turner with that pick also, but he slowed down a lot over the last half of last year. I like Mendenhall. If Brady is there, that could be a pick as well. I think the Patriots Offense will be sick this year. My "darkhorse" is Rivers.
Yeah, Vick lasting the entire season concerns me. He has the talent and if he stays healthy, he'll put up just stupid numbers. However, his style of play tends to leave him open to some vicious shots.
Yeah, I'm feeling good about Felix Jones because he will be the focal point of their offense. However, I can see Marion Barber stealing TDs from Forte when they get within the 10 yard line. I'm also considering a late round pick of Willis McGahee because I think he will be Denver's goal-line back.
Remember that the Eagles signed Ronnie Brown this off season. That will reduce some of McCoy's numbers. If you always judge your current picks on prior years rankings, you'll never be consistently at the top of your league. I look for McFadden to have a big year again with the Raiders, I'd pick him. Needless to say, we all know what he's capable of doing.
Vick wont be there. MJD
I got McCoy with my 9th pick with the same amount of people. The 8th in my league got Vick. Andre Johnson is always a good pick too if you don't think he'll be available for your 2nd round. I've had him every year the past 3 years and he's never let me down in producing points. Probably the most consistent, other than brady or manning, in terms of getting points year in and year out.
Never take a sleeping pill and a laxative at the same time.
Andre Johnson................Why worry about the 6th best RB when you can have the best WR???? Then take a Roddy White or Hakeen Nicks in the 2nd round. There are only 8 good to great WRs in the league that you can count on. Get 2 or 3 real early and then take your middle round RBs and youll be set. You can always pick RBs throughout the year but WRs dont pop up out of no where.
Correction: It's a 10 person PPR league and we have the #8 pick. In that case, I'm going with either McCoy, White or Andre Johnson at #8.
JMO - take a top WR. Last year I had a late pick and went back to back to back WRs in rounds 1, 2 and 3. Then got a second tier QB in round 4. All of the 'second/third' tier RBs sat on the board bc everyone else was racking on early. If you're smart, you can still land a couple of solid RBs in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. You have to go deep and play matchups since you have 3 strong WRs and won't likely move them much barring injury. Guys like Tolbert, Sproles, Starks, etc could very well still be around. That put me in the championship game last year and was at or near the top of the league all season. I think it only works with a late draft position bc you are falling into that 'maybe RB1' ranks or an def QB1 range.
Yeah, this is the first year I've played in a PPR league so I'm reading up on it as much as possible. Long story short, my wife signed us up for this league with a $175 buy in, not knowing to ask if it's a PPR league or what. That tidbit of information just came to light about an hour ago so my "strategy" if you want to call it that, just changed. I'm definitely leaning toward a WR at this point.
Johnson then White........sneak in Vincent Jackson as your 3rd pick and youre the champ.........that will be my strategy except Andre wont fall to the 10th pick after beating everyone with him the last 2 years........Roddy is much more consistant game in and game out.....and Vincent Jackson might have the best numbers of anyone this year with the groove that him and Rivers had
I'm really thinking White then Jackson would be solid if it comes to fruition.
I am not that high on White this year because of the drafting of Julio Jones. I think Julio takes away from his catches. Last year, the Falcons had Jenkins as the number 2. Jones is a huge upgrade. That also moves Harry Douglas to the slot where he is a bettter suit.
I would pass on White. His numbers will drop ever so slightly. Not because he will have a bad year, but because there are better WRs now in Atlanta.
