It doesn't make sense.

  • Let me preface this by saying that I don't generally pay too much attention to the team up North, and I'm also not one of those guys that goes around saying Clempson pays recruits. Nkemdiche committing just doesn't make sense to me though. Here are some reasons why via timeline.

    1) Daquan Bowers was one of the candidates to go #1 overall in the NFL Draft. He was picked #51 overall. Now if he was worth a real #1 pick, why wouldn't teams risk it?

    2) The Orange Bowl. 70-33. Enough said, right?

    3) January 12, 2012 Kevin Steele is fired as defensive coordinator at Clemson (or resigned). Venables is hired by Clemson, because he was forced out at Oklahoma. In other words, they got a guy that wasn't good enough for Oklahoma to replace a widely reputed recruiter in Steele.

    4) Sammy Potkins

    5) The decommitment/scholarship revocation of Ike McDonald for taking other visits, even though other commits are still actively taking visits to other schools.

    Folks, I don't get it.

  • This doesn't just go for Nkemdiche, but any other recruit currently committed or even considering the place.

  • It is what it is. One guy won't change a culture. He can help them, but in reality one guy can only do so much.

Not arguing for the sake of it. No one man can change the culture. Lattimore was a part of a whole movement. From AD to coaches to players to fans to the media. They only have the media haha

  • Dude's high school coach was Dabo's roommate and best friend and they offered a scholly to his best buddy who is 1-AA caliber. Dabo is a helluva salesman and Clemson is a pretty place.

That being said, Saban, Miles, etc will be on his ass in the coming weeks and during the season. Wanna play half your games against Duke, Wake, Boston College, Maryland, etc or do you wanna play in the best conference in the country on national TV every week against real competition?

The Chad's offense has been figured out (they'll still look pretty against crappy ACC competition) and Clemson still aint got jack in the trenches. They'll continue to look pretty against the Dukes and Wakes of the world and get hit in the mouth by the big boys when it matters. And remember it dont matter how many star guys you get when you cant coach and develop them. Pretty sure Daquan Bowers was the #1 player in the country when he came out and we didnt even hear from him til he was a senior,

He got caught up in the moment. Im taking bets starting now that he wont sign with the Taters in February. And even if he does, who cares? We are still better.

  • Marcus lattomore did change the culture, we became a run dominant team and started getting team firsts. Sec east championships. Heisman talks. Recruits want to be around him, hype. And an active leader in the community. Also, cam newton changed auburns program for a year, one player can make a difference

  • The Cam Newton argument makes no sense, he is a terrible person. Lattimore is a great back and person. But once again he is a huge part of a big movement, But with awful coaching and poor leadership Nkemdiche won't impact the program like Lattimore did with all the bigger things in place. Lattimore did not go because of some sales pitch, it was all the things in place, coaching, ad, facilities, other top recruits, etc

He ain't Marcus Lattimore. And I'm not just saying that to be smug. An elite RB is going to have much more influence on wins and losses than an elite DE.

    Thomas Sumter

  • I would rather him go to clempsun than jawja or LSU. At clempsun, he will not have the talent and organization/scheme around him to cause us any problems or beat us.

If you look at a recent report on recruiting budgets, clempsun spends more than we do. We rarely even use half of our OV's, and we only go after guys we feel we have a good shot at. Clempsun offers everyone on the ESPN150 and badgers them relentlessly to come on an OV, they miss on a LOT of guys, but they get some highly rated prospects out of it. They also pay little attention to such things as character and work ethic before they offer a guy.

If you haven't noticed, there is strong evidence that a certain type of character kid is turned on by dabo's BS and negative recruiting. They got guys like Chad Kelly, Townsend, Bellamy, Potkins, and Boyd, who have shown they are quitters and flakes. Also, the pair of 5* LB's they got have not shown anything either. Their team is made up of poor character guys and soft quitters. I don't want the type of guy that believes dabo's nonsense.

  • It's like seeing a beautiful girl shoot heroin in her veins. At first it sucks to see, but after you've thought about it, you're better off finding out what kind of girl she is before you wasted your time falling head over heels for her.

You've gone too far North. Any further West and you'll be cleaning your shoes. So he IF he actually goes there he simply becomes another in the long line of overrated clemtardtech DE who flop in the league. Gains Adams (RIP) was held in check by Sorenson and did little in the league, Ricky nipplepincher Sapp was he even drafted?, DaQueen was a supposed to be cant miss top 5 pick who went mid 2nd round. How many sacks did he record against us by the way? Let him go flail around up there in methane country. I'd rather him go there than Bama where he'd have talent across the DL, and coaching, or even UGAy where there's some talent and a little coaching. At clemtardtech there's little DL talent and nothing but choaching. Your life kid, if you want to ruin it by going to the armpit of NE GA, wear the barney uniforms, and play for a one time and in no more than 6 years will be again insurance salesboy go for it!

  • The sooner you commit, the sooner you can get on the payroll. Nuff said.

  • I think there are very few like Lattimore. Spurrier is the reason he's here. But Lattimore has done more to change the program and university as a whole than Spurrier will ever accomplish.

Not only is he a special athletic talent, the kid is the whole package. He makes everyone around him better on and off the field. Those kind of kids aren't just once in a decade recruits. They're once in a lifetime. For the first time in school history, Carolina believes it should win. And that's a huge transition.

Lattimores legacy will outlast Spurriers. I promise u that.

As for this other kid, I don't know the first thing about him other than his measurables on paper. He's obviously a great player. But time will tell if he can have a similar impact. I highly doubt it.

    ^^^^^^ This.
Wasn't it Gilmore and Holleman who committed there after a 3 day brainwashing, then thought better of it?
