Any idea on who the candidates are to replace him as coach? I know it's early in the process but wanted to see if you've heard any.

since tam has known there would be an oppening in the ad job for a couple of months or so , i would say there was some behind the scenes moving going on. i think it is a done deal that tanner becomes ad and holebrook gets the baseball job. chad has turned down some hc jobs and i think he knew ray would be moving to an adm role soon. just my opinion.

There are no candidates, there is just one candidate: Chad Holbrook.
Davidson, I know you don't follow baseball as much as football, so I will explain that Holbrook is THE premiere assistant coach in college baseball. He turned down the HC position at Tenn last year, and is regarded, pretty much unanimously, as the best recruiter in baseball. Matter of fact, he is in the top 10 in every list I have seen as the best recruiter in all of sports.
He has coached in 5 of the last 7 CWS finals, which I don't think is a coincidence. I'm trying to think of a comparison to a football assistant, and I honestly cannot think of one that has the prestige of Holbrook. Anyways, he's definitely the guy.

As always, thank you for the info Cockjudicata. I've grown to trust your insider posts over the years. I'm not sure how to feel about this. I hope that Ray Tanner will be as good of an AD as he has been a BB Coach.
