JC, what do you think about Coastal firing Bennett?

He started the program and went 7-4 this year. It seems to me that something else must have contributed to his firing than football. Any insight?

The equipment manager was just arrested for misusing funds and forgery here in Myrtle Beach. Not sure if this has anything to do with Bennett being fired or not. Just the timing suggests something more is there than 7-4.

I wouldn't be surprised about Caldwell but I have heard Elliott is being strongly considered as well. No great source-just through the grapevine.

I heard a week ago that the powers that be and those connected to the program where wanting to go in another direction. I was surprised to hear it and then this. Not sure it had anything to do with the guy that was arrested but did read on this board he ran a loose ship. I think coastal could be a power at its level of football and guess others agree. Met Bennett and he seemed to be full of energy and liked him the minute I shook his hand.

Bennett was not fired he was reassigned. If it were anything improper he would have been fired.

Am I wrong or didn't Bennett just sign like a 10-year contract extension about a year or two ago? If so it's going to take awhile to pay off the rest of his contract and also pay a new head coach salary as well.

That's why he got reassigned within the university. If memory serves, he has 7 yrs left on the contract.
