I think you are making a big assumption. If his knee was injured it would affect his ability to plant and throw the football, which might explain why he was constantly throwing off his back foot.
Hard to say from our couches whether he could have gutted it out, or whether he was too injured to be effective, no matter how hard he tried.

The person that needs to be fired is Jerry Angelo the Bears Gm.
How can you have a 40 year old qb as your second stringer?
The dude threw 5 interceptions against the Panthers this year!! You remember them .. the LAST PLACE Panthers?
Angelo's ability .. or lack of ability, to put together a full team is pathetic. He can't draft, he can't get free agents period.
I was furious to see Cutler on the sidelines .. but after the game Urlacher pointed out that the guy is always at practice, takes many hits and keeps going ... If anyone would have been mad at him it would have been Urlacher. I have calmed down a bit after that ....
If it isn't anything more than a bruise they need to trade or cut him.
Sad to be wanting the guys knee to be messed up ... but .. at least it would explain some things.

Jay Cutler, will he get cut by Bears for quitting on his team?
