Yet another reason why Spurrier is one of the best coaches in the nation. Anyone who knows anything about the HBC knows he preaches to his Quarterbacks about keeping the ball up around the shoulder pad area when dropping back to pass. It makes for a quick release and more difficult to get swiped away. If you watch the winning touchdown to Bruce pay attention to Dylan’s drop back and release. It was vintage Spurrier. Quite frankly, if Dylan hadn’t kept with his fundamentals he likely wouldn’t have gotten the pass off with the Michigan defender closing in so fast. Thompson’s quick high release made that play possible. If he has to bring that ball up from waist level he never gets that pass off. Just one more reason we are so fortunate to have a legend like Steve Spurrier leading our program. GO COCKS!
That's a great observation. The more I watch the last TD play, the more impressed I am with Thompson's poise and willingness to take a big hit. He got destroyed as he released the ball. It was an all around beautiful display out there.
