Watch the DVDs. TR was rarely double-teamed. The opposing OL didn't have to.

He was frequently double teamed and don't need to re-watch films to know this. Heck Ingram attributed much of his success to this Your dissing of him is probably based on a misunderstanding of his role which was to command a spot on the the line -- not necessarily make swim moves to get sacks.

So you feel like you're a better judge of who should play than Lawing, E Johnson, and Whammy?

Nope. I have my own opinion and I couldn't care less who shares it.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

i didn't misunderstand his frequently being shoved back by a single OL. I saw what I saw. if you think he played well last year that's your prerogative. I don't share your viewpoint.

I would bet he is NFL Caliber now. He is quick enough to play DE in the NFL now and is plenty big enough for that position. With that said hope he stays at least 1 more. Kid is the best looking DT to come thru USC in some time.

Not even close. He is very good but has to increase his weight, strenght and stamina. He also will refine and learn technique over the next couple of years.

I really think Quarles will be a beast. He will have a very productive year, but if we can get him to stay for his Junior and Senior years he could be dominant.

  • Couple points here.

The legends of TRs "dominance" are greatly exaggerated. His draft status proved that. He was a great Gamecock but let's be real here.
Secondly defensive tackle is probably the stupidest possible position to try and go pro early. It wouldn't surprise me, but i dont t see it.
The only sure fire guy on the team that will absolutely go after his junior year is Clowney.
I see Lattimore staying unless he wins the Heisman And we win the national championship next year and if that happened I'm sure we would all gladly thank him for his time at Carolina

  • If you knew the Quarles family, this would not even be a serious question. His mother will not let him leave until he has a degree. His father knows what is required to play at the next level and he will not allow him to leave - period! The family has had good investments and doesn't have a need for the money to improve their lot in life ( these guys are very good business people around the Greenwood area and tough too as one of his Aunt's owns and runs a bail bond company). The entire family, over 60 on game day, take great pride in college educations and that's why he's here. No chance he leaves early but he will play in the NFL barring injury, IMHO
