I can't remember USC EVER looking like a well oiled machine in the first game of the season. My guess is that USC will have about twice the number of yards of Vanderbilt, but only about 10 to 13 more points. The only way USC scores big is if Vandy is also having problems with execution, in which case the defense forces a few turnovers and USC runs away with it.
Franklin will work his guys hard to win this game, national TV and starting the season, this is a great chance for Vandy to make a statement. OTOH for USC the goal will be to just get out of town with a win and no major injuries.

We have Spurrier as our coach. If anyone knows that running up the score still holds weight with rankings it's him. We have a legitimate shot at only losing one game this year and the other games will be looked at regarding end of the year rankings. I believe Spurrier and the team have high goals this year and they know that every game counts.

This obviously depends on how fall practice goes, but I predict a first quarter similar to East Carolina last year, minus the miscues and dropped passes. We'll throw deep within the third or fourth play from scrimmage and try to sling it around if we can.

If it doesn't work like they scripted, we dial it back a notch and let Marcus do his thing and go with a more conservative gameplan.

That was nice. I think for the Vandy game though if we took over physically on both sides of the ball early when we could run away with it. Spurrier does know a little more about gameplanning and calling plays than I do so whatever.
