Lastest Mel Kiper Big Board - Ingram/Gilmore

  • Like Wes Bunting, Kiper has Ingram going to Buffalo Bills at the 10th pick.

For the first time, Stephon Gilmore is in Mel Kiper's big board. He has him at the 23rd pick by the Detroit Lions.

Alshon Jeffrey still not in the top 32 picks. WR's that are: Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Kendal Wright, and Stephen Hill (in order).

Carolina Panthers: DT Dontari Poe out of Memphis

  • Please no to the bills, I'll never get to see him play...

  • Was there another pro-day or something where Alshon was going to run the 40? Seems like that is all that is holding him back.

  • I feel bad for any team that picks Stephen Hill before Alshon. Sure he can run, but he has hands made of stone.

  • Not yet, USC's is March 28th.

  • I don't understand how Kendal Wright is in his top 32 and Alshon isn't. Alshon definitely outperformed him in college versus better competition. He also showed up and measured much better than he was supposed to whereas Wright was shorter. Finally, even though Alshon did not run, Wright put up a much slower time than he was expected. He is under 6'0 and ran above a 4.6. I would think running that speed at his size would be worse than Alshon not running. I'm pretty sure Wright under-performed in quite a few other tests as well.

  • It would be so awesome to watch Ingram play for a defense such as the Steelers. I wish the best for him and hope he excels in the NFL, I just hope he excels in the right system.

lol ok go ahead and chop of your fingers and tongue, your opinions are not worthy of eyes or ears. what did you see him drop one ball against a team you hated and thats the final decision?

this was a reception. he has countless ones like it. salt goes great with crow

2013 SEC Championship Game: USC v LSU

  • Hill may be another Thomas and he may not. Tevin Washington was my fantasy football QB and I can say that Hill was wide open and made plays because of that offense. Alshon made plays in spite of our offense.

Lot of people were hating on Sid Rice a few years ago too... Just sayin

  • Stephen Hill doesn't have the overall body of work that Alshon has, but he took advantage of his opportunities this season, had a GREAT combine, and GT wide receivers have had a good NFL track record lately. So, it wouldn't be totally surprising if a team decided to jump up pretty high and take him.

My issue is more with Kendall Wright. He had a very good year (was on my college fantasy team, so I know this better than most), but he was an absolute bust at the combine. He ran a freaking 4.61. Alshon is at least that fast, if not faster, and is bigger, stronger, and has better ball skills.

The bottom line is, Alshon hurt his draft status badly by not doing anything at the combine. There is plenty of time before the draft, so he can make up for it with a very good pro day, but for now, his stock is down because he didn't perform in any events. The only thing I can think of is that he or his people felt like they could drastically improve his results with a few more weeks of training.

Sure Hill made a great catch every now and again, but for every great catch he made he had just as many mind blowing drops. I believe it was the UNC game last year where he was 10 yards behind a defender and dropped a pass that hit him in the hands. You remember Alshon doing anything like that? I believe one draft analyst counted 5 or 6 drops by Hill who only had 28 catches on the year. Do you think that's a good percentage? If you do, then maybe you're the one who should keep his opinions to himself.

Talking to a GT alum buddy several times and he's always talking about Hill and his surprise at his rising stock. Says he makes circus catches but way too often he drops the wide open play. "Makes Sportscenter, but drops the easy plays you never see on highlights."

  • For everyone who got mad when we said Alshon hurt his stock and wouldn't go in the first round after doing nothing at the combine, you can now shut up.

I definitely agree he hurt his stock. I'm assuming his time wasn't where his agent or he wanted it to be so they held off running at the combine to get some more training time in for USC's pro day. If he runs well there, it should help his stock out, but not sure if it will get him back into first round.

So the OP is the official draft that happened already?

That was one long ass nap.

    mpcoan

  • Who cares where he's drafted? He's going to be an all-pro in a year or so anyways, as long as he's got a good quarterback. What the hell does it matter if he's a frist rounder or a second rounder? Hopefully he's a mid second rounder that a team like the Texans can pick up.

Care to put 50 on him going in the first round?

A good 40 the end of March and that will be forgotten.

  • Come on guys Alshon's stock has plummeted and you know it. And if you think him running a 4.59 on Carolina's fast track is going to change that I think you are wrong.
I'm hopeful that a team in the late first like fall in love and take him but honestly WR is not something that most teams are going to address with their first pick. JMNSHO

So are you in as well? I'll bet 50 against anyone who thinks Alshon is going in the first round. Might make enough to take my wife skydiving for our anniversary.

For the first time, Stephon Gilmore is in Mel Kiper's big board. He has him at the 23rd pick by the Detroit Lions.

Gilmore to the rapidly improving Lions could end up being a good fit and turning out well for both sides. They could use a star corner and he would probably get a good shot at the starting job as a rookie.

It would be great if SG was chosen in the first round. Detroit certainly needs help at corner. Not sure what to think about Alshon at this point.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
