Tennessee Titans quality control assistant coach Charles London has also accepted an offer to join O'Brien's staff as running backs coach, London has told The Tennessean of Nashville. (AP)
Is there a reason we can't get someone like this?
Having heard numerous times from our RB recruits that experience in the league is a key factor, I think you need that in a RB coach specifically. That's the difference in bringing in 4 and 5* guys when you are battling the Bamas, Georgias and Floridas of the country. If we wanna play and win championships, you gotta have game changers. Elliott was an OL coach from a winning program, that's a key difference in comparing that hire to this one.

It looks as though Spurrier feels the pieces are in place to be special so chemistry and staff comradarie could make the biggest impact---both positive and negative. Keep in mind that the "BIG" names would be leaving a "known" program so most of them must feel they are bigger than their current position or they wouldnt be leaving. The worst hire we could make is a guy who feels he is bigger than the USC program and deserves to be in charge. We need a position coach who will coach and recruit not only like Coach Spurrier asks, but more importantly "like" the other coaches on the staff. I would like a guy who can make us better, appreciate the opportunity, and build good relationships with high school coaches and parents...............ala Coach Mangus, Ward, Lawing, Elliot, Spurrier Jr, etc.
I trust Spurrier to make the right hire because he has seen how much of a negative impact making the wrong hire can have on the rise of the program and specifically winning the SEC and BCS.
